Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

If you are like most typical people when you have several loads of laundry you go in check, and if the clothes are dry irregardless if the timer has went off, you then toss in the next load to be dried, reset the timer and walk away. You may do this several times. STOP right there and never do it again. There is a cool down cycle on your dryer for a reason, and that reason is not to cool down your clothes, but to cool down the heating element on your dryer.
A friend of mines house burnt down a few months ago and that is the reason why. The dryer was less than 6 months old. The heating element overheated and caught the floor on fire. By the time they noticed the smoke etc it was too late all they could do was run out of the house and call 911. Their dryer was in a wash room off from the main house, so they did not smell the smoke right away. The Fireman that explained this to her said that 9 out of 10 people when asked about how they do their laundry do it the wrong way. They even wrote up an article in the local paper about how not to dry your clothes to make more people aware of this. If you read your dryer instruction manual it will tell you to let the full cycle run.
Please pass this on to others and let them know about this potentially dangerous fact.

*awkward silence*
Me: "Did you know the cool down period isn't for your clothes, but for your dryer so it doesn't overheat and burn your house down?"
Person: *blink*
*awkward silence*

shame so many folks are in THAT much of a hurry. We still have to do the same things to survive life these days as (we) did 100 years ago.. take a deep breath & do some time management
