When there's a stain you just can't get out...what do you do? This isn't an area that can really be covered with an area rug. And it's cream colored carpet. I will never understand why builders think that cream carpet is a good thing when you're building houses for families. We didn't even have options aside from various shades of creamy carpet. Nice.
So since we have kids, there are spills...orange gatorade, to be specific. I think anyways. They had brought it upstairs (which they weren't supposed to) and spilled it, and then tried to hide it...so I didn't see it for at least a couple days. Even the professional carpet cleaner who came over couldn't get it out with their professional stain spot remover stuff. Boo!
So...any suggestions? I am thinking of dyeing the carpet...but I'm not sure how well that'd work. Or just buying matching carpet (this is the most generic stuff you could think of lol, it's like every cream colored carpet you could find), cutting out the squares where the stains are and putting in the new carpet. No idea how difficult or doable either of those would be.

woot well I found carpet remnants from when they built the house...so I am going to try my hand at patching the carpet where we need it. More than enough remnant for that, and I'm going to keep a couple squares around just in case I run out some time down the road and need to match the carpet

i use all these at one time or another, depending on what i can get to first. our carpet is light tan, and we have a puppy helping us to break it in

another trick that I leanred when working for the coast guard cleaning houses after the renter had been transferred is, use the carpeting in the closets to patch spots in the same room. As long as the carpet is not over 2 years old, or the spot is not where the carpet got 'sun bleached' the color should still match.
make sure when you cut the piece you are going to patch in that you cut it Round, squares are harder to hide when you patch it in. (at least this is they taught us) use glue and glue all around the edge of the main carpet, as well as the patch. set in place. put something heavy over it to make sure the glue attaches well. Do not disturb for 24 hours. Remove the weight and brush the carpet with semi firm brush to raise the nap.
oh! when you put the patch in make sure what ever the patten is on the back matches the piece you removed. If you look closely sometime the glue grid pattern will be different from one way to the other. Turn your circle you have cut to fit until it is the same as the one you removed. this will make the nap match closer when you put the patch in.

Thanks for the tips Ayla! That'll definitely help
Foxy I tried everything you mentioned except the oxyclean and nothing worked hehe. I think it is partly because of the orange dye in the juice they spilled, and partly because I didn't see it right away.

The best stain remover is Spot Shot. You can use on clothes and carpets. Trust me it will take grass, blood, ink, wine, hair color anything off carpets & clothes. When i was a colorist this lady told me about Spot shot for my work clothes and getting the color splats off if i got any.... Works like a charm. Was great for sons baseball uniform grass/blood from playing rough hehe.
Just spray on let it sit for a few mins and take cloth/rag and pat it out..its amazing stuff. All moms should have hehe it

Maybe it's something with orange. My daughter somehow mashed orange and green crayons into our beige carpet (yeah, what is with the beige carpets anyway?!?). I've tried everything to get the orange color out of the fibers and it won't come out either. I can't get the green out either but for some reason the orange seems to be worse.

for the crayons have you tried using an iron to 'melt' the wax?
Place several thicknesses of paper towels over the spot and iron with your iron set to low. Hopefully this will lift some of the colors out. Be really careful as you dont want to melt the carpet at the same time!

All of the wax came off. These weren't regular crayons. They were some kind of Sesame Street really soft crayons that you twist up like a lipstick. They remind me more of a paint stick rather than a crayon. The package said they were washable but if you get it on your skin it stains, too.

I think the Sesame Street crayons need to live with Oscar in the garbage can...

We use this on pet stains and all types of stains on the carpet, and it works wonders! Plus, it's a very good deodorizer, too. http://www.zeroodor.com/

I use oxyclean to get stains out of my carpet. I know it at least works for kitty barf, and kitty poop that you step on in the middle of the night because they missed the pan and you have now stepped it into the carpet.
