When you have guests staying at your house, do you keep fresh towels in their room or in the bathroom? What are some things you would keep on hand for them in the guest bedroom or bathroom? Any tips/ideas for sprucing up a guest bedroom & bathroom?

I definitely keep fresh towels handy in the linen closet right by the bathroom. Also, since there is only one bathroom aside from the master bathroom, obviously my girls are the primary ones who use the bathroom. Therefore they have learned what mom's standards are when it comes to bathroom cleanliness, and that I do enforce those standards.
We don't exactly have a separate guest room right now though...or you could say that two of our bedrooms are guest rooms but are currently occupied by long-term guests hehe. My sister is in one and one of hubby's friends is in the other. They are both waiting for their houses to finish being built. We can't wait for them to move! They're great guests but it'll be nice to have those rooms back again (so we can move the baby's bed out of our closet hahaha) and I know they are really looking forward to being in their own places again too!
As far as things to keep on-hand for guests...if you have a guest room, think about placing little things in a dresser drawer or basket on the dresser, like an extra toothbrush, and those little travel-sized toothpastes, stuff like that. It's really amazing what people sometimes forget to bring with them hehe. Other than that...if I know someone is coming to visit, I will change the bedding that day if it needs it. If it doesn't, I still strip the sheets and blankets and toss them in the dryer with a scented dryer sheet. It airs out the linens and makes them smell nice and fresh too.
Little satchels of potpourri in the dresser, or cedar balls, are nice. Also for a dedicated guest room, I think furnishing it with a bed, a dresser, a small writing table or desk, and one or two chairs is the most desirable. That way they have a private place to go to and read, or whatever, without having to sit on the bed (which can be uncomfortable after a while) or anything. Just my 2 cents

Hehe we never did till we actually bought a house. Then it was kind of a requirement, for us anyways...all the houses we were looking at had to either have enough bedrooms, or a separate space that could be used as a guest area.
We just have company over enough (we loooooove company!) so it was worth it to us.

I'm having house guests starting tomorrow. I do have a guest room but it needs to be painted. I won't be doing that before they come though. I went out and bought some new bedding and washed it. The bed looks nice and comfy I have rolled up some fresh towels and added them to a basket in the room. And sometime today I will pick up some candles.
I think that should be ok

That sounds nice! Just those little things make your guests feel more comfy...I wouldn't mind being one of your houseguests

basically I fill our guest bathroom with clean towels and there's always at least 1 extra toothbrush available in the house... + the essentials... an extra deoderant, shampoo & conditioner, and if I have time I'll put fresh flowers in the guest bedroom, guest room, and maybe one other main room in the house (dining or sitting area)
Always make sure there are tissues & a waste basket available in both rooms when we have company as well... and I have some decorating books/magazines that I leave in a basket in our guest room.
I think that's all...

Oh now that's a GREAT idea! Most of our guests bring along their laptops but making sure they get connected regardless is a fabulous idea

hmmmmm we have a laptop for that stuff too & an open wireless network (cuz really ... nothing on our comps matter enough to close password it) so that anyone in the house can connect (like sis in law w/ her laptop a couple weeks ago) great call, Silver!
