Bagh! the update rolled my 3.0 back to 2.9.4.0 with all red x's
Oh BTW this is my back up system I always update it first and leave the main alone untill this sort of thing is sorted out

umm... it was never 3.0. And the update wouldn't have changed anything there. The only thing clicking Update changes are the XML files needed for decal to run.

I get the same message too. Has anyone found a fix yet? **Den agent down load failed, interface not registered, invalid syntax. I tried the decalutil.exe fix & get an error report to send to msn. *** I even went back in time to last Wednesday to try a fix. Decal worked fine for me before patch!

Oh It works what they mean is that the utility will replace the update buttton.
For dummies like me.
1. download the utility to your desktop or where ever to disk
2. load decal like you normally do but do not click update
3. open the utility and run it decal is now loaded
4. Proceed to AC and play with you current favorite utilities. happy

I just did both suggestions & when I get to the char.selection -i click a toon to enter & I get an error message of" fatal DirectX issue, try different screen resolution or bit depth."
I am running 32 bit color, 1024x768 screen resolution, GeForce FX5500, 96dpi setting. DirectX9.0 is installed too.
Thx so much for all your help!! I feel that I'm just one step away from getting decal back in running order...Is my dpi setting wrong? Are we supposed to go back to use old injection method? or Change url update for decal to new decal.util.exe?

you ovbiously missed a thread or five on the ACDev Forums, so I'll sum them up..
the Syntax Error's cause is not known. What we DO know is that you cannot use the Update within DenAgent to update the XML files. You must use the DecalUtil.exe linked on the main Decal page at http://www.decaldev.com
that will NOT elimiate the Interface Not Registered, or Syntax errors because those are errors in the UPDATER of DenAgent which is what DecalUtil replaces. AKA.. use DecalUtil, and do NOT click Update within DenAgent.
That being said, once you are updated, everything should work fine if it worked for you last month. (unless you've changed settings or other things)

I just wanted to say TYVM to everyone!  I got mine running last week. I still see peeps in game w/ probs. asking for help. ( I downloaded Skunkworks & Concord also )
I think the problem is we all want to use decal like we used to. For those of us who have to use the Util.exe....Those days r gone w/ the wind!
#1. get the decalutil.exe to desk top
#2. check what U need on old Decal first, then **EXIT** it.
#3. double click the DecalUtil.exe on desk top,click the auto-update.xml box at top. wait for complete. check the bug box. (don't worry about it saying fletching stuff.) shrink it down- dont (x) it out.
#4. Double click the old decal icon on desk top to your task bar.. **dont even open it,or update it like we used to. ( My Hubbie crashes if he opens old decal after doing the update)
#5. get in game!
