With the ammount of people that made money off his macro framework you would think it would be possible to find 200bucks in the community to buy a updated board that isnt full of known security holes.

he uses invision power board, but like elgarl stated, it's an old version.. like 3 major releases old. More than likely, he hasn't kept up with the subscription, and he can't upgrade to the latest version. But, I dunno. I just had to renew my subscription, so I could upgrade to the latest version.

Current version is 2.1.x, Cam's board is 1.3.1 from 2003...go figure

That is my recommendation. I've set up and currently run 3 boards based on php and it is very secure, easy to setup and maintain, and there are tons of user addons for customization.

The 3rd one I'm not going to list because it is for my company.

my only problem with phpbb is that it has also been poked and exploited just as much as invisionboard has (if not more).
while it appears to be currently unexploited on a fully-patched system, what's to say that it won't be exploited again in the near future?
I guess you can say the same for anything, but as Zalliun said, there is no point in switching from one board to another that has also been swiss cheese.
try to find a good secure one that if possible has never had an exploit found, and has been around a while. (if that is possible)
