Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Take a look under Power Options in the control panel.

It shouldn't shut down completely from settings in the Power Options control panel. At most it should go into hibernate, which saves your computer's current state to the hard disk so everything is where you left it when you turn it on again. Is that what's happening, or is it shutting down completely?

Some machines < 1GHZ with 512 or less RAM will go into hibernation mode and won't come back out for one reason or another. Usually if a USB keyboard or mouse is used.

By the way, if your computer is failing to resume from hibernation, you can disable it completely (and save some hard drive space) in the same control panel.
