This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.

Here is what I have done so far:
1) Uninstalled tank and decal and reinstalled
2) Uninstalled tank and decal and framework 1.1 and reinstalled
3) Uninstalled tank and decal and framework and scrubbed the registry and reinstalled
4) Tried using alternate injection method, not using it, using decal dual log mode, not using it
What happens is that I log into AC and it gives me the MS Error problem with acclient.
If I turn off tank I get the same problem. If I go into AC after just installing decal, I get the same problem.
If I go into AC with decal shut off, I get into the game no problem.
I have been working on this for over 3.5 hours now and still no luck. This machine has only had MakeIt, Decal and tank installed no ACDualLog so this is not the problem. I really dont want to spend another 4 hours reinstalling the machine from scratch as it takes forever to fully security patch the machine and upgrade all my other software to current patches.
Any suggestions?

Is it just one character?
Make It has been having login crash problems. CharacterStats has also. Try disabling both and seeing if it works.

Thank you, it is just one character having problems. MakeIt doesnt work on that machine properly, guess I should just uninstall it.
Any suggestions on the character that it is crashing on? This happens to be my main toon.

Well this is not a MakeIt! problem as I have it disabled. It is just 1 toon that I am crashing on and I would like to know if there is a way to fix decal to allow me to load that toon.

Chemala,
You have one toon with issues, you have Decal Alpha 5(b) and Eltank Beta 5...
find the Tank folder, under it is one called Characters... default location is: C:\Program Files\Tank\Characters
find the character name under that one with issues and delete it...
Not finished yet...
run Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Decal Plugins\ELTank
Again, find the offending toon... and delete his(or her) key/folder
try to log in with that toon...

I did that, however, AC crashes before initializing tank. When I disable tank I still get the same crash. This seems to be some type of Decal problem and not tank. I loaded decal on another machine and did not load tank, and the same crash happens.
Since it happens pre-tank load, the file is not created and the registry entry has not been made.
Thank you for trying.
PS, the only difference in the name of my toons is that the one (out of 14) that is not loading has a dash, Kanen Eagle-eyes. Could this be the problem?

only the developers can say for sure, but one of the new 'features' listed for alpha 5 was support of unicode.
findit was having a unicode conversion problem if one box was left blank (no 1-15 value inserted) once any number was stuck in the box crashes stopped.
SO, maybe somewhere stuck in old code is something about dashs that isn't now handled properly via the unicode. would assume as well as they test it isn't the case, but it could be a 1 in million oddball problem yes.

No, Gouru's problem was all in his own code. He was passing a null _bstr_t (a wrapped BSTR) to a conversion routine, which was causing an access violation exception. As the _bstr_t wrapper class automatically handled a wchar_t* to char* to conversion, his code worked when the textbox was filled in and atol didn't choke, though wcstol is a better choice as it does not require an conversion. The Decal internal conversion towards Unicode had absolutely nothing to do with it; as Decal is a COM/OLE Automation based API, all strings are passed as BSTRs -- and all string BSTRs are wide characters. The external API did not change one bit.
The distinction between wide characters (int16/c++ type "short") and Unicode is slim at best, but in any case, it had absolutely nothing to do with this bug.
