Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Hello everyone,
I think this might have almost happend to me, and I have talked to people that it has happend to, so I thought it would be best to warn everyone about possible exploits regarding one of the Lifetank X functions. A character named "Venom X" was the person who apparently tried to do this to me on my server. Lifetank X has a built in remote-control function, that allows a character to be controlled remotely. Apparently Venom X, and possibly others, are taking advantage of this built in function to try and rip people off. Once in remote control, one can type anything that you could normally type (/die, /house recall, /house storage add <name>, etc), and can also retrieve your coordinates. So, conceivably, he could recall to your house, get your coordinates, add himself to your house guest list, and steal anything in your house chest.
My advice on how to prevent this is as follows:
Under the lifetank "Coms" feature, turn off (uncheck) all of the options, such as accept IRC commands and accept in-game LT commands. This should disable his ability to remotely control your character.
Under the IRC, Remote Control tab, turn off (uncheck) the enable remote access option.
And the best advice, of course, is just to pay attention and not be away from the keyboard with your macro running (to my knowledge, LTx will only accept these commands while your macro is running, including if it is paused).
I hope this helps prevent this from happening to people in the future!
Take care,
Vici
