Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

I installed ACDC months ago with .NET 1.1 on my system. Has been working flawlessly, even after I installed .NET 2.0.
Today I uninstalled and attempted to re-install ACDC, and I get an error at installation telling me that .NET 1.1 in not installed on my machine (with a handy link to the MSDN site).
So, what now? Do I have to uninstall .NET 2.0, install 1.1, install ACDC, uninstall 1.1, install 2.0?
Can I install .NET 1.1 AFTER I've installed 2.0, will 1.1 overwrite 2.0, or will they coexist on the same machine?

.NET 1.0, .NET 1.1, and .NET 2.0 are all SEPARATE products from Microsoft.
They have similar names, but they are not the same thing.
.NET 1.1 is NOT an upgrade for .NET 1.0 and .NET 2.0 is NOT an upgrade for .NET 1.1
If you want to use products built on .NET 1.1, then you must install .NET 1.1
The link for it which I compiled ACDualClient with is found on my site. It has nothing to do with .NET 2.0 and should not affect anything other than itself and applications utilizing .NET 1.1.

No, really... trust me on this... you WON'T understand.... It's an ACF kind of thing... In my day, we didn't have self-esteem, we had self-respect, and no more of it than we had earned. ~Jane Haddam http://jonnjack.wordpress.com/ <<--- My Blog

At least currently...

We are like dwarfs sitting on the shoulders of giants. We see more and things that are more distant than they did, not because our sight is superior or because we are taller than they, but because they raise us up and their great stature adds to ours
