Shouldn't you make your own before you try fixing other people's plugins?

There is no information on wrighting decal plugins.
If you want information on writing decal plugins, you may want to start with this...

Ironic name.
another good one would be "CartBeforeHorse"... considering it seems like that's what you're trying to do.
Start out by writing your own plugins first.. get familiar with the Decal system and how it all works, THEN work on updating an already existing plugin... otherwise, there is a large chance you'll end up making the updated plugin worse rather than better.
Also.. as was previously asked, how much programming experience do you have? which language do you plan on using?
Rules of Decal Development: http://jvarga.berkeley.edu/decal/rules.htm
Learn to program FIRST, THEN attempt to program with Decal. Don't attempt to learn to program by programming with Decal.

Burn BURN!
Good luck chicken. You won't get anything but 3rd degree burns here. And unless you go play the decal devs little "rush" game, you won't get into #acdev either.
Long live 40 year old+ hazers! Huzzah!

I'm not 40+ either.
and Hazing is a part of the process. If you want our help, you have to prove that you actually know enough that our help won't be useless. Plenty of people hang out in #acdev and have a perfectly good time and ask some pretty good questions. I even make it a point to help people out on occasion (even with lame questions). Just don't come in expecting us to teach you how to code. If you have specific questions that you've researched, but need clarification on, those are the type of questions that you can (fairly) safely ask in #acdev. The main key being that you've researched the question. You've attempted to locate the answer yourself. You don't come in with a lazy attitude expecting us to do everyone except write the plugin for you.

Getting hazed is part of being new at just about anything. Rookies get hazed on sports teams, pledges gat hazed in frats, the new guy gets hazed at jobs/school. It may not always be fair, but it's just part of life.
Yes, I went through being hazed, and sometimes I still ask stupid questions. But when I do ask them, without doing enough research before asking them, I expect to be hazed.

I realize that Drak, and I wrote my first plugin based on the old framework that was (i think) was provided by Zyrca. It was simple, but without the basics of knowing where to begin with a decal framework; it can can be quite difficult to know is needed to do.
I realize there are people who don't do the research I also realize that you guys gets tons of requests for holding hands. I can understand the frustration.
I have a suggestion though:
How providing a page that answers the basics?(and I don't mean the basics of programming)
It seems to me it would save you guys a lot of time.
Also, for people that want to learn, do get the free downloads MS has right now. There are even tutorials on how to get started and they are quite easy to comprehend.
There are also books for dummies availavle at place like barnes and noble and such that are quite good, but certainly not decal specific.(Which is what I think mnay people are searching for)

what do they need to know that we need to teach them?
all the obejcts and methods are in Object Browser. Unless you're doing Message Parsing, there really isn't anything else that you need that isn't in Object Browser really... most of it is pretty straight forward if you know as much as you should about programming.
There might be a couple small things that could use a little more documentation.. such as the new HUD system, but overall, it's all right there if someone wants to look and find it.

"you know what he meant, no need to be a jerk about it." -Myk-
I consider it a favor to point out spelling errors. How is anyone supposed to learn if their mistakes go by without remark? When I was younger I couldn't spell for beans. I'm still pretty bad but I know enough to lookup a word if I think I'm likely to be wrong about it. There is nothing wrong with making mistakes, what is appalling is that people don't care enough to learn from them. I am so sick of the prevailing attitude on the net that spelling and grammar do not matter.
Oh, and you will note that I did provide a useful link for the original poster. It's not like I completely ignored the subject. What exactly have you contributed?

HIya me again,
How come when someone asks for a litle Directional help, on how to go about writing Plugins, he gets Flamed?
But when someone makes a post asking for someone to actually give them the exact codeing lines they need for a plugin, they dont?
I thought the guys question was legitimate and respectfully worded.

#acdev is easy on newbies . . .
You should try one of the big dev channels. Want some serious hazing?
http://www.winprog.org/
And before you newbs pounce on the Decal devs about being 40+ hazers, go read this first and think about your priorities.
