At first it was totally random, till somebody complained(like always).. and then we posted something asking people if they did not want to be hit to let us know, but then I did a few where the people really did not want to be focused on even though they never let us know they were against it... so I asked for people to sign up.. It was really the only way to be able to keep doing them..
A couple of people were polite in asking they not get hit, but a few were very upset about the whole thing and thought I was doing something really wrong.

You got the gist of it!
We have only had one thread that turned nasty so far and I asked for it to be locked as soon as it started.. the trolls usually ignore them or act in a semi decent manner on them for some reason.

Onto my story...
On January 1, 1972 at 1:15am, the world first heard my cry.
Hey! I don't like being slapped on the ass.
Growing up in the New England area, I was your typical All-American, red-blooded boy in a Norman Rockwell-esque small town. I played in Little League for several years as well as Youth Soccer. I was a Cub Scout, a Weblos, and a Boy Scout for many years, as well as an altar boy for the Catholic faith.
Unfortunately, I never really had a chance for physical handsomeness due to a neighbor's dog. When I was 4 years old, this Rottwieler/Pit Bull mix broke out of its cage, started roaming the neighborhood and found itself in my backyard as I was innocently playing in a sand box.
I won't go into details, but the end result was that I have a prominent star-like scar on my forehead, a circular scar near my right eye and my left eye does not open all the way without concious effort. What a way to start out in life...already permanently scarred.
Due to this, my life in school was rather lonesome. In some reason to redeem myself from my hermit-like existance, I became the school's anti-bully. I defended anyone that needed protection.
My slight change to acceptance came when our school did some game activites. The school's head jock was the arm-wrestling champion, until I challenged him. At that time, I was a scrawny little boy with little to show for muscles. Everyone was surprised when I held him off for 5 straight minutes before he called a stalemate.
Two months later, my family moved out of state.
My family has had an almost ritual about moving every 3 years, even though we were not in the military. I've lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Nova Scotia (Canada) and finally Georgia. The longest I've stayed in one location was when my family finally moved and stayed here in Georgia.
Greatfully, I finished school here in Georgia. I even had some ladies who have looked beyond the scars and seen the man inside. I tend to hide what spirit I have in many, many ways to deflect any "turn-downs" I usually recieve, and my own disgust in my own appearance, usually in sarcasm and in humor.
Once I graduated from High School, I went to college in Savannah (SCAD, for all of you out there that know any colleges in that area). Its an art school, and I have a fair amount of skill in graphics. Its also where I learned more about "loving the womenz".
Hey! Its an art school...you figure it out. I'm not gonna get banned for describing all of what I did.
I can back home, and realized college wasn't for me at that time. So, I went into the work field. After a time, I realized that I had to make "improvements" about myself, my attitude and my general view on life. So I looked into the military.
I tossed out the AF just on principal (sorry guys). I can't swim all that well so that ruled out the Navy. The Army looked good, but it just did not give that "extra" I was looking for. At that point, I looked into the Marine Corps.
I enlisted in '92 and was shipped off to Parris Island, South Carolina for boot camp. When I got out, I entered my schooling before hitting my Infantry unit. During the time I spent in the military I was able to participate in many, many wonderful things.
I was one of the Marine Corp representatives that marched on Omaha Beach during the 50th anniversary of D-Day, 1994.
I was a member of a Riot Guard in G-Bay, Cuba when all those Cubans tried to paddle their way into America during 1995.
I travelled England, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Israel, Turkey, Kenya, Mombasa, Iraq (say hi to the sand dunes for me tillsb!!), Iran, Japan, Korea, and Australia.
I've seen combat, and I've saved the lives of quite a few of my men.
I lost only one man, a close brother of mine, and at great personal risk and injury to myself, brought his body home to be buried. It was at this time, I renouced my religion.
During my time in the military, I got married for the first time. In hindsight, I was dumb, young and full of... errr. You know the rest. 
The only reason I got out was due to that woman giving me the typical "Marine ultimatum"...that being the Corp or her.I chose wrongly and got out. Two years later, I divorced her.
The next couple of years were spent "entertaining" the womenz, but I won't go into it. Many of it crossed ToS boundries.
I finally met my wife after quite a few years after all this. We are, what we privately joke about amongst friends, as a "one-night stand gone horribly wrong". We got married shortly thereafter. And no, I am NOT going to reveal any agreements my wife and I have...at least not out in public. You guys are pervs enough without me encouraging you.
PMs, though...are another issue.
I am a casual gamer, and I found the VN boards about 6 or 7 months ago. My home board is the CoH Comm board, but I like visiting others as well. I view this area as a very close first to my home board, so I plan on staying for a while.
At the present moment, I work for an insurance company that also handles vehicle title administration. I'm one of their Supervisors there.
And these are just the main highlights over the last 33 years of my life.

We did the moving thing too.. 12 different school in 12 years.. sometimes 1 school for 3 years, sometimes 3 schools in one year. Being the new kid all made my strong sense of empathy what it is though.
