Ha, just got a chance to check on ACF, and youre right I have been absent of late.
First a voluntary ban so to speak on my part, this past weekend was my wife's birthday and today is kinda my anniversary but actually that happens only every 4 years as I was married on leap day 2000!
And to top it all off I am wearing a brace on my wrist as I am developing carpal tunnel.
Between my computer usage, golf, 20 years of raquetball and tennis, (before I crushed my ankle) and now trying to get antique motorcycles with drum brakes to stop in traffic (right hand hand brake and stiff throttles, I have screwed my wrist. My nerve hurts all the way up to my shoulders and neck and I have had to cancel golf for a few weeks now.
Ok let me start it off I was born in Washington DC at Columbia hospital for women in June of 1957, the same hospital my Dad was born in on Friday the 13th 1916, and the same hospital Al Gore was born in (though that one I should keep to myself, the loser).
My early years were spent driving my bicycle around as I grew up on Pensylvania avenue, where the J. Edgar Hoover bldg sits today.
The closest family to where I actually lived were probably the Kennedys, it was in the hearf of official govt. land where my grandparents had an old store front with an apt above.
My Uncle was secret service and I actually went on the White House an easter egg hunt, I must have played with John (Kennedy) Junior, but I don't remember the details, I do remember the funeral procession (JFK's) as they went right by where I lived.
Ok I went to Greek Orthodox Parochial school for elementary school and took the public DC bus to it from first grade on.
I went to DC public school for Junior high which was back in the post Martin Luther King riot days, the school was 92% black and I got popped in the face with a huge black eye my first day of Junior High.
Ok I gotta go to my Tuesday construction meeting on my biggest project, I'll continue in a few hours when I get back....

Ok back from one meeting and gonna check in here before I go to another.
Ok quick backtrack, I played with guns a lot as a youth got a 22 in third grade, I used to take my bow and arrows down to the mall (Washington monument etc. though I was nearer the Smithsonian side, and shoot at trees and stuff, DC was a sleepy southern town back in the early 60's.
Ok so in 4th grade we moved to another part of town still in the city but it was like the suburbs, they had woods and even song birds unlike the rats with wings (pigeons) in downtown.
I was much more the cutthroat businessman then, than I am now.
I served the morning and evening paper, shoveled snow and cut lawns for a living, by 7th grade I had $2,000 saved as I wanted to go to college and I knew my parents would never have the money for it.
That brings me to 7th grade, after my experince in junior high I told my folks that if we did not move to another school district, Maryland or Virginia, that I would run away in the spring, head far west to California, never give my name to anyone and they would never see me again.
They believed me, because I meant it.
We bought a house in MD, I picked it, they wanted a different one but it was my money that paid for the closing costs and downpayment ($17,000 house) back in 1971.
My Mom still lives in that house today.
I asked for the money back in 8th grade, my Dad said, "you got clothes on don't you, you've been eating haven't you." Well that was it, he never paid me back.
So in 9th grade I got him to split buying a brand new 1972 Yamaha 175 cc street/trail enduro with me, it was a spur of the moment thing and he got it on credit.
When we got it out of the station wagon and after an hour or so I figured out how to operate the clutch and foot lever and start it and all, (from the owner's manual), I took off on it and yelled over my shoulder, "thanks Dad, that's part of the money you own me, I'm not paying you one red cent!"
Which is how I got my first motorcycle.
This NOW brings me to high school.
Walt Whitman High School, in Bethesda Maryland.
Ok I gotta take off, so quickly...
I was a national merit semifinalist. I was a brainiac and a hippie. I drove a 1964 T-bird that I bought myslef for $190 in 10th grade before I could legally drive and drove it anyway without a license, and then also a 1968 Yamaha 350 in 12th. I wore black t-shirts that said "Eat the Rich" I attended every protest in DC there ever was. I got my picture on teh Washington Post once holding a banner when me and abud got thousands of people to sing along on a protest song, CIA man by the Fugs,

I lost my virginity on the top of the meanest nastiest hill climb (motorcycle widow maker) in the DC area.
I used to say, "when you wipe out your bike always put your knee in the way to protect the tank, your knee will heal, the tank cost money."
I've lived to regret that statement.

Well Kah intrest has died down...
I will sum up my life now in as few words as possible.
I went to college at 18, dropped out at 20, became a carpenter, travelled around the country on a motorcycle (I could write a book on those stories).
Lots of fast bikes and even faster women.
BTW one of my biker buddies from High School no less is the guy in the hippie pic with me in my linked sig.

Went back to school when I was 23, I decided to become a civil engineer. I sure had fun in college second time around, more confidence with women and all I even dated the head of the American Indian society, every month she would go back tot eh Navajo reservation and bring back a suitcase full of cactus cuttings, legally!
Anyway I digress (she could suck start a Harley btw, but that mustache really turned me off, a year after we broke off I saw her sans mustache and Man was I aching for some but no go for the Hyper, oh and, sorry ladies to be so graphic).
I graduated at 27 and went to work for an outfit that sent me to half a dozen cities a month. I had an office in Gerogetown that was pretty cool and the company was 100 people 85 women and 15 males (10 of which were married), after learning why it is not a good idea to date at work I changed jobs a few times and ended up working on the DC Metro. During this time I hooked up with an old flame in Cleveland.

I got lots of other wierdness but I am tired and don't want to write a book, so anyway...
Bought a run down Victorian in MD, restored it and used the money to move first to LA for a year to work on the Metro there, then off to Hawaii when I was 33 back in 1993.
Been in Hawaii since except for a year in Phoenix.
I came to Hawaii with no job, managed to land one and worked my way up the ladder eventually managing the largest public works project ever built in Hawaii, and made quite a name for myself in the process. My biggest rise to power (break), was the result of taking a spear in my chest for my old japanese boss and being honorable, though It almost cost me my career it is what made me more than any single act in my life.
I now own my own engineering firm and have been asked by the Republicans no less, to represent them as a businees manager in Hawaii, black tie dinner and all in Washington.
What a long strange road its been.
