In an idle moment I fell to thinking of Yset’s beaux ingame, and what she may have learnt … class by class.
(for interest’s sake, the tally, as much as I can remember it, is:
Pallies: 6
Mercs: 5
Armsmen: 3
Infs: 3
Scouts: 1
Minstrels: 0
Cabalists: 1
Sorcerers: 0
Theurgists: 1
Wizards: 2
Clerics: 0
Friars: 0
Looks like I attract people that like to smack things, hehe ……  )
So … here is

THE WISE WOMAN’S GUIDE TO THE MEN OF ALBION
PALADINS:
Seem to be obsessed with gallantry and courtly love. Swoon and sigh and yearn and declare love at the drop of a hat (or plate helmet). But – are you the only woman in their lives, or do they love the Church more? Have a tendency to make vows and use them as excuses. Need to do a lot of guesswork with them. Can you cope with having to be good and well-behaved all the time with them? No, thought not. It can be fun to corrupt them, however.
MERCENARIES:
They’re for hire. That should tell you a lot. Often use two-pronged attacks in their wooing (beware: just when you think everything is all straightforward they come over all gallant at you and act like a paladin). If they can’t get you the one way, they’ll try the other. However, having both hands occupied leaves them at your mercies, somewhat. Also have the knack of using flowery language when the mood takes ‘em. Don’t be taken in. Someone probably paid ‘em to do it.
ARMSMEN:
Rough an’ ready and that’s how they like it, baby. Used to being in the frontline and acting quickly, so will sweep you off your feet in no time (and very possibly carry you off over their shoulder). Somehow, drink doesn’t seem to affect their performance. Unlike paladins, who invoke God a lot, armsmen appear to believe they ARE God. They have a worrying tendency to get lost a lot, usually with an attractive woman in tow. Don’t listen to them if they blather on about hot springs in Snowdonia. They need regular thwacking if you want them to behave themselves.
INFILTRATORS:
Utter rogues, and won’t let you forget it. Can insinuate themselves into almost anything. Seem to be somewhat fond of dancing. Like to play with your perceptions, not to mention other things. Hear a word whispered in your ear, feel a warm breath on the back of your neck, an’ a warmer hand elsewhere, when you thought you were all alone? That’ll be an inf, then. Good for lurking in shadowy corners with (hint: keep a black hooded cloak with you for such purposes )
MINSTRELS:
Singers of sweet songs, their honeyed words, I am sure, can be well-put to other uses. Remember, they have to be poetic for a living. Do they actually mean what they say? Alas, I am not the one to advise you of this: no minstrels have yet sung any lovesongs to me.
SCOUTS:
Remember, Cupid had a bow and arrows, too. Scouts tend to worship from afar before letting their dart loose. Another class that prefers to sneak the subject into a conversation rather than be upfront about it.
THEURGISTS:
Hmmm. With all those minions running about, these guys seem to wish for a harem. Be prepared for a little bit of slavery and ordering about. Which is all well and fine.
CABALISTS:
Don't we all have a little fascination for the dark side? I've been told on good authority that I should put that cabalists are innocent and sensitive, but I strongly suspect that this is merely part of a Cunning Plan to lower defences (and ye'll have to try a damned site harder than that!). They get a bonus for rarity value, though.
SORCERERS:
Alas, again, no direct experience of these, having so far been invulnerable to their charms (or, should that be, they have been invulnerable to mine?). Too much competition from all those poor beings they drag around with them as pets.
WIZARDS:
You could be playing with fire with these, or get one that is icy-hearted. Wizards appear to blow hot and cold. Somewhat preoccupied, they often appear subject to strange fixations, occasionally involving barbed shackles (just ... don't ... ask).
CLERICS AND FRIARS:
I tried to find some hearsay on these, as I must be too much of a fallen woman for them. There wasn't any. That's worrying. Have they all taken holy vows of abstinence, or is that just the ones I've met?

I personally have an inclination towards cabalists and mercenaries. The drinking water in the Guild of Shadows might be tainted for they always strike me as possessing a dark, brooding, uninhibited sexuality about them. Sort of a Heathcliff type character that makes me intrigued to know more..rowr.
Armsmen I simply don't take seriously. Never met one without a healthy libido, outrageous brogue,and a bevy of women. Someone I'd rather take as a drinking buddy (or maybe a one-night fling as a result) than a lover.
Paladins...I think the chivalry is charming but I swear you have to smack 'em with a 2x4 to get one to notice when a woman is flirting with them and a bloody God-granted miracle to get them to respond in kind.
Mages and clerics in general sort of strike me as adrogynous, aloof, and sort of elderly for some reason. Not sure why.
Infiltrators and scouts tend to be wickedly charming and funny. Greatest potential for sexual deviations: voyeurism (stealth), s&m (riding crops, saddles), and fetishes (cake). Always the friend that you *might* envision as more than a friend save for the fact that every other red-blooded Albion woman is wondering the same thing as you.
Friars just remind me of accountants. Does nothing for me.
Minstrels remind me of your little brother's friend who has perennial unrequited crushes on you and your girlfriends.
Of course, anyone is always welcome to feel free to confirm these opinions..or change my mind.

I mean we have Songs, Dashing swordplay, Obvious dexterity as seen by out acrobatics, Poetry, and best of all we are always available for a test run. We know you'll comeback for more. Ya thought Infils had good hands. *Wink*
I shall make it my personal mission to correct this misnomer.
In fact, present here a call to arms to all my fellow minstrels to repair this injustice.
Take up yer lutes, bring forth yer flutes and swoon these women. Let them know they are missing the best of what Albion has.

Chier, I've found the best way to hit on elven eldrich men is to wait until they're mezzed and drag them off somewhere private before it wears off. I know some of your countrywomen have stumbled across this technique because I've watched stealthed while (not naming any names to protect the very guilty) a group of 4 Alb women mezzed a lone eldie and stripteased for him.
I suppose I could have rescued him, but for some reason I doubt he'd have thanked me.

Yset I suggest you and the other ladies of Albion be a bit more careful of your male counterparts. Sure, many of them go on and on about the church and their vows to deend Albion but there are those in there that are utterly shameless when it comes women.
A paladin snuck in under my radar and I havent' been able to shake him every since. They get under skin ladies and if you can keep them focused on you and not some wondering cleric you are a very lucky lass indeed.
Oh and minstrals I have found to be silver tongued devils who slip all kinds of meanings into their songs and conversations.
Every armsman I know is the strong silent type, charming and heroic though a bit to focused on the kill I think.
Scouts, now scouts have always come off as the sexy loners. Witty and flattering makign a girl's heart race than slipping off into the forest alone to leave us to wonder and fantasize about them.

Mmmmm, 'tis strange indeed how different experiences can be.
I, for instance, have had no less than four of my paladins swear undying love, swoon, quote poetry and generally be gallant knights.
Conversely, I've almost lost count of the number of highlander armsmen (they all seem to be northerners* that wave whiskey flasks around and chase anything remotely female.
Perhaps we shoud swap some

I have never ever ever declared my love for anyone! I, er... um... It's not a commitment thing, I swear. There's just too many to pick from, they've all got a lil' piece of my heart.
As for good and well behaved... pah. That's an excuse alot o' paladins give because they're shy and unsure of themselves. Our sole purpose is to uphold the Lord's will with the tip o' our swords, he never said a thing about not having fun while we do it!
...or... maybe that's why I don't get invited to sunday dinners in the chapel anymore.

A paladins view on the breakdown of our percieved romatic prospects:

Well of course, if nothing we paladins are cunning enough to know what a woman wants to hear.
2. Swoon and sigh and yearn and declare love at the drop of a hat (or plate helmet).
Merely a self defense mechanism to ensue the continuation of the paladin species, as so many women put stock in it.
3. But – are you the only woman in their lives, or do they love the Church more?
That is between a paladin, and the silence of the local innkeeper he buys.
4. Have a tendency to make vows and use them as excuses.
Well umm, why is it you always want us to reclaim our lost kingdom and become boring princes or kings? Our first inclination is to bop things on the head (or bop a cute lass on the head and take her home, but you get the idea).
5. Need to do a lot of guesswork with them.
Women would get bored otherwise. Besides, we learn to be shifty, all those brothers at the church who taught us didn't approve of Playelf, or Buffbriton. We had to practice our laying on hands in private!

If only they knew....

Actually, I chose cleric very specifically. The female clerics I've met in Albion are far naughtier (hehe, naughty is a weird word, but the best one I can think of) than the friar-chicks I've met. But the female friars are definitely more playful.
As to which one I go for more, I'm not telling. That's for me to know and you to try to find out!

Hmmm, well of course I always knew us paladins were a strange lot, anyway, but it does the heart good to know that there are some that have fallen as far as I have myself from grace. Ahem.

Straton, I can't resist but to comment on yer comments, lad ...
1. Perhaps it isn't always what a woman wants to hear. Maybe she has already heard how her face is the light that keeps the world going, how her eyes are stars and how the universe bows down before her. She is Woman. She therefore knows all these things. It's very flattering and poetic, but the problem with most pallies is that they never know when to shut up and just buy a girl a drink.
2. Swooning and sighing and yearning don't do an awful lot to continue the Paladin strain. Actions do, however. Why do you think there's so many armsmen running about?
3. Heh! Alas, though, I rarely see paladins inside the taverns, so those poor innkeepers can't be doing that well ...
4. Hey, I never sent anyone out to reclaim kingdoms or anything? No, these were vows to the Church that I mentioned. Once upon a time, I had a fiance, a paladin lad. He made vows. His conscience, or something, brought him to leave me just before the wedding-day, some church vow or other changing his mind. Now, what red-blooded man would let a church vow dissuade him away from finding God wi' the lady of his dreams, eh?
A curse on all vows, say I.
Anyways, it left me able to carry out a bit of research .... ummmm ....
5. Ach, there's boredom, and there's impenetrable frustration. Does that far-away look in his eye mean that he's going to come out with a poetic couplet, or that he's contemplating God, or wondering what to have for dinner, or that he's going to fart (never good within plate armour, hmmm that's another point about plate-wearers, actually, occasionally it's not all too pleasant when they disrobe. Before you turn that back at me, ladies don't fart, so there)?
6. Shhhhh, don't tell us. It's far too fun doing the corrupting. Don't spoil it.
However, some of you are quite sweet, really ....

ok heres my lil spin on things :P
Paladins: Gallant.. Heroic... bringers of romance. Always ready to defend a womans honor.. Tends to get hurt easily tho..So be wary. Some paladins tend to try too hard.
Clerics: Always trying to help women out... of their clothing!! Women.. beware.. if a male cleric asks you to lift your shirt to get your pulse... OI :P
Armsman: Stong.. Straightforward.. with as much finesse as a bull in a china shop...:P
I swear almost every armsman ive met tries the old caveman impression... me armsman.. you woman.. me bonk you on head and drag you to home in ludlow :P
Cabalists: Leaders in the dark arts...Very quiet... TOO quiet. Always keeping to themselves.. and lure in females using their dark mysterious charms.
Wizards: Most wizards ive met are SERIOUS pyromaniacs... Big time show offs... and do things in a very big way... but they do tend to be quite adorable.
Theurgists: The theurgists ive met that are male seem to be quite funny. Altho.. they put WAY too much time into their pets. :P
Scouts: The strong silent type... you never know they are around.. they admire you from a distance. Scouts... please.. show yourselves :P Alot of scouts ive met are the sweetest guys.. *IF* you actually ever see them :P
Infiltrators: Oi.... dont get me started on this class :P Rogues to the very core.. Full on flirts.. seem to have the attention of a woman everywhere. Dont get too overconfident tho... women tend to find out there are others.. and one day they may all at one time find you :P

Friars: Always funny and crazy.. and.. DRUNK! hehehe The friars ive met seem to be the life of the party and are quite fun to be around.
Mercenaries: My favorite class... DROOLS!! ahem... err back to the subject.. It is true... mercenaries are like rogues.. that can grab your heart and run. The mercenaries ive met thought are sooo strong and sexy.. always willing to jump in and get the job done! ... and dont get me started on that dual wield Under all that rough exterior tho.. there tends to be the heart of a teddybear(Grins At Ellis)

hey I am an admited Paladin addict. their safe<kinda> and fun. don't have to worry about gettin' stuck with one. just mention vows of marriage and watchem run....
we'll I went to Twilights last guild meeting. arriving late I hurried over to my place by Solice. glacing around the room who do I see but this handsome Merc, YES I SAID MERC !!! I asked Solice "who's that ?" she says " who, oh you mean Zuis". now I am a scout which equals flirt. so ya I flirted with him. thinking maybe I need a change of pace from Paladins. after a few weeks and some fun hunts that merc sneaked himself right into my heart.next thing I know he's asking my father for my hand. Father said yes...I mumbled something to the effect of "yes".I was in shock.so in a months time we will be tieing the knot
anyway sis. got any advice on living happily everafter with a highlander Merc ?

Hmmmm, I find that you can learn much of a thing by studying it in its natural habitat. Funny how pious men forget their vows at the mention of Beltane or the whispered promise of a moonlit tryst. In the presense of a true follower of the Goddess it amuses me to remind them how weak they are in the face of their own nature.
Although I enjoy the raw passion and masculinity of the highlander warrior, they are just a little too easy to figure out for me. Mayhap that is why those who walk in shadows are so intriguing. Who is the cat and who is the mouse? I will never let them know.

Armsmen: ... nothing to add, really. They're still to be taken as you find them.
Paladins: ... deranged, to a man. Every single one of them. If they aren't confusing you with the angels, they're swearing off women completely, or only going after those of other realms ...
Mercenaries: ... Can be yours for a price, depending on what coin you pay them in. Some of them have the key to unlock 'most any defences .....
Infiltrators: ... have you ever danced with the devil ...? I cannot comment on infiltrators. I'm utterly biased in their favour.
Scouts: ... they're still hiding from me, mainly. The only one of my acquaintance knows of all sorts of such clever uses for bowstrings, though ...
Minstrels: ... ohhh the stamina
Wizards: ... it's something to do with those entrancing fingers: let yourself get carried away and before you know it they're showing you that they now not only have shackles in their collection, but riding-crops and thick rope too.
Cabalists: ... they're evil. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, y'know?
Sorcerors: ... never quite certain they are who they say they are. Or are as they seem to look. I may have been glamoured. But the fantasy's fine enough.
Theurgists: ... just what are all those groans from the pets trying to hide, eh?
Clerics: ... I've hardly met a sober or religious cleric in this entire realm. Watch what he's doing with his hands when he tries to bless you, my child.
Friars: ... utterly focussed and always trying to prove themselves. Now, just to show them what a proper object of that focus should be ...

All right, I'll add my two coppers. Here's my guide to Hibernian men. Please realize that this is all heresay, as I have little personal experience in matters of the heart.
Bard - They're very confused. They have to juggle three instruments, and *then* play them. Oh, and they have to learn how to fight, too. That pretty much leaves no room in their heads for even thinking about women.
Blademaster - Inconclusive. Not enough subjects to study.
Champion - They like to use big weapons, presumably to make up for other areas in which they are lacking. Tough guys on the outside, thumb-suckers on the inside.
Druid - See Enchanter.
Eldritch - They're special, and they need to be treated like they're special. They need lots of petting and adoration.
Enchanter - They'll make you think that you're really very important to them, and that they are the answer to every woman's prayers. However, how important can you be when they can summon a pet to do their every bidding whenever they wish?
Hero - A better protector for a woman's heart couldn't be asked for. However, getting past the ego and the pride may be difficult. They can turn into a moose. That pretty much leaves nothing more to be said.
Mentalist - Shy and reserved, they always seem surprised at the effects they create. They need constant confidence-building.
Nightshade - You don't want to know. Really, you don't want to know.
Ranger - "I love you I love you I love you! Yes yes yes! Wait, you're too close. Stay right there! Don't you take another step!" *vrrroooooom*
Warden - Probably the most well-adjusted, stable, and desirable of the bunch, but may have some overbearing fatherly qualities.

Actually, Lavaeth, I've never seen it either, but that's what I've heard. Wardens usually strike me as... hyperactive. The only person who has ever been fatherly to me is Barrtok.
Yset, on a related note, the information on Nightshades was gathered because of said father figure, who introduced me to a certain elven Nightshade, after which, much to my embarrassment, whispered into my ear that if I was looking for a marriageable noble, he was it. Upon asking others about this elf, that is what I was told: "You don't want to know." Such things are intriguing, of course, but more often than not are better left uncovered.

NECROMANCERS
The moon is o'ercast and eerie sounds whistle past your ears, as you run heedlessly towards ... towards, you know not what. Feel your blood turn to ice? Feel cold, clammy, half-dead? Then don't worry, that's just how your average necromancer will like you. Often accused of being somewhat ... insubstantial, the necro is anything but that if you persevere ... if they can bring the very dead to life, then just imagine, girls, what they can do for you. If you can keep them in one place, that is. They have a tendency to slip through your fingers and race out to the frontier where they can carry on showing off their uberness.
REAVERS
Not particularly ones for subtlety, a reaver will whip out anything they can at the first opportunity to impress you. They don't flail around for anything to say, but will chain you to their side with words that rend the very soul from your body and suck the life from you, or the will to run away.
Once they've done that ... well they'll just tie you up and punish you a bit, of course
EARTH WIZARDS (specially for Dylon)
More difficult to find than the lost lands of Atlantis, these conjurors can harness the elements, so what possible defence do you have? Strong and dependable, if frequently belieing this by trying to become One with the Earth and being dead. Make the earth move for you, of course.

As for Reavers, well, I've come to the conclusion that if I had stayed in Albion, there'd be no doubt at all that I'd be playing one. A Mercenary and a Reaver, those would be my characters, yes.

Salt of the earth. Don't trust the ones who only believe in 1 God though as they tried to kill him...
Mercs
You get what you pay for. But if you fall asleep next to one make sure you're lying on your valuables...
Armsmen
Too 'rough and ready'. I suspect they never take there plate off after 15th? level, simply covering it in more heavier armour. They pee in it and I'm sure they 'sleep' in it...
Infs
In and out without anyone noticing... Not ideal in a man...
Scouts
Like to play cowboys and indians but want to be the indian for some reason...
Minstrels
like most thespians as straight as a £9 note
Cabalists
Make dirt pets and play with them - nuff said
Sorcerers
Play with animal pets
Theurgists
More pets then you could find in a certain pop-stars bedroom. Too suspicious for words...
Wizards
Too interested in admiring their sparkly staffs. All should have the surname Narcissus.
Clerics
They can cure their own diseases but are far too pious for my liking. Come complete with catamites.

Men in dresses - you couldn't make it up! 50th epic is in velvet with a nice silk brocade trim...
Necromancers
You're kidding! They like dead things...

my armsman doesnt have many "woman friends", he is rough, blunt and to the point
my paladin though tis a more romantic and will nay put the church above his love, but he is not a person that will behave all the time as you put most paladins as, he is a decent mix btween a paladin and a armsman from your descriptions, just go to show there are always exceptions
EDIT - my paladin seems to collect/fall in love with either cleric, or reavers
