I'm not speaking of playful banter but say a poster that doesn't like an edit and re-posts something and calls out the mod. I would prefer a warning over a ban but the mod on IGN wont think twice about a ban. Public and private harassment for example wont be escalated to a manager. The mod will just do what needs to be done to put a stop to it.

While I may tend to agree with you or would have at some time you have to face facts that it is a game and things change. What hasn't changed is the community which is what we here on the boards are all about. Thanks for bringing so much to these boards with what I'm sure are 91 posts of the utmost quality.

And the permaban thing has me concerned. I've never been banned that long, mostly 1 day bans for calling someone stupid or an idiot. Would suck to be permabanned for that.
