My cousin killed himself in 2004. It's so hard on the family, everyone feels guilty like they should have known or done something to stop it. And then you're just left with so many questions.

I support people's right to take their own lives simply because it is their life to live or not to. That being said, I think it is very short sighted, ungracious, and a silly thing to do (except in extremity of chronic pain or something).

I've had a few family members commit suicide so I've dealt with it, myself. It's tough, of course, but it's kind of hard to let it get you completely down since it's not like some random accident, which I would expect would be worse (hasn't happened in my family circle / circle of friends, knock on wood).

That said..."going to be serious a moment" and you still had to type a damn tilde~

Tell that to people with chronic nerve pain.

Better to dull the pain than willfully forcing that pain on others.

If you live long or hard enough you eventually realize that life IS pain. I guess it's better you live in ignorance of that as long as possible.

For someone that isn't suffering from a mental illness, probably being relevant. It's not just ambivalence toward others, there are significant mental processes being altered and impaired. Not to mention the extreme sense of distress and pain accompanying many of them. Yeah, it might be ostensibly selfish to us, but they aren't necessarily capable of thinking rationally or normally.

This is one of the stupidest things I've ever read. Might as well say enjoying anything that makes you happy is being cowardly. Hanging with your friends? profanity coward. Driving just to drive? profanity coward. Sleeping with your significant other? profanity coward. Go be a Puritan somewhere else.
