Advice: Find a guild.

Honestly, I tried, but nobody was in the market for wet-behind-the-ears noobs (and I think I outed myself to some Massively players by shouting across regional and advice chat). On the whole, I didn't see a lot of chatter at all in any of the channels save for the occasional trade or gold spam.

That's a shame, and not so much for me (after all, I'm not going to be playing this game for too much longer) but for any new player who might dive in and hope to find a guild right off the bat. Most of these older games tend to be hungry for recruits, so I just found that puzzling.

Advice: Get back into PvP battlegrounds when you hit 20.

This is my full intention and the reason I pushed to get to 20 this past week. I want to end my time in DAoC with the main selling point of the game and hopefully evaluate PvP combat from a slightly more seasoned perspective.

Because of this, the vote this week won't be whether or not to send me to go PvPing; that's what I'm going to do, period. To be honest, I'm having a really difficult time coming up with any sort of vote that has to do with battleground PvP because I already know that I'm going to look for a group and do whatever the group wants to do. There really isn't any other big option other than to solo (and die), so a poll might be counter-productive for this.

So let's break with CMA tradition and not have a poll, just this once. Shh, don't tell Shawn! Instead, what I'd love to see is as much DAoC PvP advice as you gave me PvE advice last week, and I will do my best to follow that in the bloody encounters to come. What say you, experts, seasoned vets, and general spectators? What would give me the best chance of not only surviving but thriving in the battlegrounds?

Why play a skald for a first time player? Stick to an arms or wizard (or hib/mid equivalent) and learn the basics. Playing a class like a skald and you are gonna have a rough time.

timing dds, using the songs, getting the side chain stun in, using ranged interupts on the right targets, kiting if needed, there is a lot more to do than to just slam and polearm spam. Using all the abilities in the right way requires knowledge about other classes, timing them right and coordination. If you are a great gamer you will pick it up fast but for 99% of people this wont be true, just simply because of a lack of knowledge about the game mechanics.

Anyway for the rest, his column isn't meant to be an end game review/journey as that would take way to much time to give every game an end game review. He basically just spends a little amount of time a week playing and reviewing a games new player experience from the aspect of a total noob. He throws up polls to see what the people interested in seeing the game want him to try.

His column was never really supposed to be aimed at veterans of the game unless they are curious how a totally new player to the game sees Daoc. While it would be nice to see him put a lot more effort and do full reviews of the complete offering from his chosen games that is a huge time investment when you have other profanity to do. So just face it he won't get to NF rvr and he won't sing the praises most want to hear about how daoc is the greatest pvp game ever, also calling him an idiot just shows how much of an idiot YOU really are

he funny thing is you slag of WoW as being slow but to be in the top % of raiders you need alot more of a fat ass and bigger but cheeks than most the players have on here. But yes, 99% of players on WoW are slow and crap, the other 1% are awesome and this shows when even they take 4+ weeks to do 1 encounter.
