Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

I've just started getting flight confirmation e-mails and I fly a lot. This one isn't a company I use, but it looks totally legit except for the obviously bogus url hidden in the link. But I've got a flight this week and if they hit me with the right airline, I will probably click the link. That sucks.

Yea I f-ing hate that crap. I've almost fallen for the one that looks like the facebook message center and also the ones from "Paypal" asking me to login and verify my account info or else they freeze my funds. Not to mention the countless ones I get from "blizzard" saying I have been caught trying to sell my account, the one I haven't played in years, and I need to sign in right now using this shady looking link.

I don't see many of those. Lots of the FedEx/DHL fake emails, though.

I don't get the fedex/ups ones but a lot of my Sales department does for some reason. I just put a policy filter in Pure message to block and delete them.

I got a new one just this morning, it was a fricken text message to my cell. Apple is looking for people to test the new iPad3!! But only the first 100 users that go to iPad3winner.something.something/something and enter to win. Use code ***** and could be winner! Hmmm? Sounds totally legit right? I mean, they only sell like 100K of the damn things a day, they must need to give them away to test them because they aren't selling enough.....Imma gonna get me one! Figured it was probably just some stupid scheme to get a home address to go with my phone number, or at least an email but who knows? No way in hell I was going to that page, I get enough crap trying to eat my computer from the pr0n sites I visit, don't need to take chances on junk like this.

I got an Email from FedEx. It looked pretty legit (your-information@fedex.com). It said they couldn't deliver a package and wanted me to download some forms and turn them in so the package could be delivered. I called them up and they said that they don't send Emails with attachments. Pretty slick phishing.

the office spam filter sucks ass and is older than dirt. We've gone through a lot of interns over the years, and we get tons of eastern european and korean spam, along with the standard bank, credit union, ups, irs, bbb, and etc. crap. But this is the first one I've gotten that actually targets my habits.

My wife has a few trips planned over the next few months. I saw the same thing but figured they were meant for her. I know she had all the information she needed to just auto deleted as I was going through my mail. If I was not behind on my e-mails I might have stopped to read one.

Yep, they use legitimate links because they don't need you to enter your credentials at a fake website. They just want you to unzip the malware attachment.
