Yes, that is a common source of red dye in a whole ton of food products. Unless you are vegetarian/vegan, it isn't an issue.

Not everything. Things can also be dyed red with "Red 40" which is derived from petroleum.
And there are a few natural red dyes besides cochineal bugs like from beets and some others mentioned in the article. But there are likely a bunch of reasons why those are less common.
