I change it up a lot. Usually depends on my mood. Usually NOT green peppers though although I have tried it before. Mushrooms onions garlic meat/sausage combined sometimes small meatballs, sometimes HUGE meatballs (as in 2 total) sometimes no meatballs. sometimes olives but not usually.

In it? Nothing. Maybe tomato. On it, any and all varieties of sauces, but one of my favorites other than the good old meat sauce is alfredo with chicken and spinach.

I didn't realize this was a thing. I like the Prego sauce with meat and the Barilla thin spaghetti. Generally I top with salt and parmesan. Preferably with garlic bread/breadsticks. Scoff if you like, but I've never had a homemade sauce that wasn't either too watery, chunky, sweet, meaty, or some other type of fatal flaw. I think they are entirely overrated.

Just a texture/taste thing. You are so used to jarred canned sugared sauce that you don't like other ones that have less processing, and more homogeneous ingredients. No accounting for taste! I love our extra meaty, chunky sauce. It's awesome.

Trader Joe's has a great low-salt marinara that I use as my normal red pasta sauce base. I then add whatever meat and vegetables I've got on hand. Making scratch tomato pasta sauce has always been too big a pain, for me. Rho

Same here, but we'll also use the roasted garlic one and brown up ground beef and/or mild italian sausage - for my family of 4 we do 2 jars and 1 lb each of the meats. I like my sauce hearty. And, both my wife and I don't like huge chunks of tomato in our sauce - so yeah, it's a texture thing. Garlic bread, heavy on the garlic, FTW.

Dad and I basically buy whatever jarred sauce is on sale (Ragu/Prego/Store Brand) and then doctor it up. Dad prefers just browning ground beef and adding onions/green bell peppers/mushrooms/olives. I prefer the same start, but i add a little less beef and brown up italian sausage, prefer orange/yellow bell peppers/mushrooms/olives. Whatever way it gets cooked, we reduce the crap out of it until it has the consistency of a thick chili. Pasta is whatever the heck we have in the cupboard.

I have to use jar sauce because I have skin allergies to tomatoes - even the steam off the sauce simmering will break me out and I can't parboil tomatoes to get the skins off without rashes. I use Prego and add either Italian Sausage or homemade meatballs. No mushrooms. Silver

i'm kind of odd...i usually just have my spaghetti with some olive oil and a little parm cheese. if i'm in a rare mood where i want to go with sauce i make up a sauce that usually has mushroom, bacon, hamburg and garlic. bacon, especially if you add a little of the bacon drippings from cooking it, really puts some flavor into a tomato sauce.
