The article talks generally about water problems and notes that England is starting rationing in the south April 5/2012 (for about 6 million people). I thus think it does.

Uh, England by definition isn't Eurozone. You know, because they don't use the Euro and all. It's also two lines at the end of a report where the European body involved actively criticizes the approach of those companies in imposing hosepipe bans.
They are also still allowed to use watering cans and buckets. You just can't turn on your hose. It is not rationing at all. It is a restriction on delivery.

Ridiculous response - they have drought happening all over the Western European area, and England is a Eurozone participant.

See, this is the problem: the free market should fix this by raising prices on water when the supply is low, but then proponents of the free market complain that the government isn't doing enough to keep vital limited resources affordable. So instead of letting the market encourage people to use less, the people end up encouraging each other to use up their meager supply and as a society we say it's better to water the grass now than use those resources to sustain life (albeit poor life) in the future. Worse, it means we continue to careen towards depleting our resources at a faster and faster rate. The larger the subsidies get, the more important they become. Scary.

I moved into a 60 year old home. It still has its 60 year old year centipede lawn that works just fine with barely any watering from me. All I have to do is kill off the weeds every couple years. Sure, it isn't that ridiculous golf course greenery but... wtf do I care? I don't. I laugh every time I think about what the every-other-day sprinkler watering neighbors up the road are paying on their water bill. And trust me, in this city it is a LOT.

for watering their lawn, or for being stupid enough to throw millions of magnifying glasses onto their lawns each day, effectively causing more problems than they solved. F'ing tools. Water your lawn in the evening!

our drought has officially broken but we were under extreme drought conditions for the last 10-12 years and water storage for the city dropped to <22% capacity. The government enforced water restrictions and everyone said, yeah we kinda need water to survive so it makes sense.
we've had average rainfall in this last year and water has gone back up over 60% and the government was going to lift restrictions and everyone said no, we have enough water so its fine. so we kept stage 3 water restrictions, our guidance is to only use 155 litres per person/day. cant use a hose to water the lawn or wash your car etc.
no biggie, we're a pretty dry continent

how is water a limited resource? its renewable theres more of it than all the people on the planet can possibley use in a single cycle. theres more being created every day, thanks to global warming. use as much as you want and stfu. if you live in the desert, move. i have no sympathy for you in the same way i have no sympathy for those who built houses on a flood plain.

Don't think we will ever have problems with water in this country.. It's in overabundance, that law also has nothing to do with my nation. and England isn't in the Euro Zone, so I'll drench my lawn as much as I please.

They ration water in the states. This is not new. In the SW you have certain times of the day you are allowed to open irrigation canals so that you can water your land/crops. It is fairly effective.

I feel that membership in the European Union (EU) makes that group of countries a Eurozone. IMO, the fact that Britain and EDenmark opted out of using the 'Euro' as state currency doesn't really change the overall economic ties that constitute the Eurozone. Perhaps semantics - I think NOT! OH, and piping fresh water from those with to those without is as feasible as, and probably more urgent than, pumping crude, and in all liklihood will happen.

Heh... What you feel is irrelevant since it's in no way shape or form a fact.. Fact is that England IS NOT a member of the Eurozone, Sweden isn't either. That we are members of the European Union is immaterial.. So you are horribly undeniably wrong. It does change the economic ties since we're not using the same currency, this is why we have members of the Eurozone and those who are not. It's not even semantics, you're just extremely f'kin wrong and in your pigheaded way you're not letting go. fact: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurozone

Who ever owns the property rights .... also people can just put rain barrels on their property and that water would be theirs ...
Including rivers and lakes? Can I own part of a river?
In the US you can, my father is a shareholder to a lake where his house is. He also is part-owner of a private dam that regulates the level of the lake

The proper form of Government is what the people inacts, ie: our modus operandi is right for us. And strategic resources are in the realm of government.. ie: water.

Btw when are you Swedes getting the Euro? And someone kick the Danes. Last year we forgot they're still living in the 19th century and didn't bring any Kroners which resulted in a small shock moment at the gas station.

That won't be happening anytime soon, the Swedish people have zero faith in the Euro and all those shitty backwards eastern and southern countries who keeps ruining the stability of the union. Hell if we did have a vote on it today we'd probably exit.. Personally I want a Northern European union all of the Nordic countries, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Poland. But that won't happen.. It would be awesome!

What if you bought bottled water and used that to water your lawn? If anything you are adding non-local water to the water table easing the drought.
