Chopsticks are easy. When I was in Japan I watched the Japanese with them and just duplicated it. They asked if I had ever eaten with them before. I said no. They were surprised. I hear Chinese chopsticks are much harder though because of the smooth surfaces.

I only learned to use them because for four years my Japanese teacher would end class with 10 minutes of watching Japanese movies/commercials/etc., and we could have all the popcorn we could eat (cheesey, air popped and buttery, AND caramel!)--provided we did it with chopsticks. Yeah we bought stainless steel ones awhile back too. I figured they'd be much easier to clean- pop em in the dishwasher! They are easier to clean, but those suckers certainly don't grip the food as well as normal wooden chopsticks, lol. Takes a whole different set of maneuvering to work with them- for me anyway. I'm probably doing it wrong

anyone got the plastic chopsticks?
My friends have 4-5 'designer' sets...lol...that they use.
Guessing they're about the same ease of use as the metal ones.
When I order Chinese food they bring me the wood ones...so I've never felt the need to buy my own set.

Like an extension of my hand. Just spent the last 2 years living in a cambodian household, i think they had 2 forks that they just used for slicing meat. (holding the meat steady, not the actual cutting) You can still shovel food into your mouth. I eat like a wild animal so something that slowed me down a ton would be a dealbreaker.
My son is 2 and he is getting ok at chopstick use, but he is still at the "kind of sucks even with a spoon" stage

I taught myself, when I was about 7.
I have a pair of travel chopsticks, they're ceramic I think, have their own cute little case that fits in my purse.
I don't carry them with me though.
