There are apparently plans to move VN boards to the IGN boards. While most of the details are unclear, from the sounds of the current plans (only 2 DAoC boards), I am 99.99999999999% certain Gaheris will get snubbed like it always does.
This is why I thought I'd direct everyone who doesn't already know about gaheris.net to go check it out. It has a lot of very useful Gaheris specific tools and information, as well as its own forum for you to post about upcoming raids, or any questions you have about templates, specs, setups, items, how to kill something, etc. or even to have a chat about whatever.

The website is run by an old school Gaheris player who will probably continue to run the site long after even DAoC dies

Thanks for posting your sources. As far as I can see it isn't a done deal because you've got different administrators giving different comments. Some are saying it is happening and others are saying that it isn't set in stone.
You've also demonstrated that I command more respect here than you do when you actually provide the proof I request even after your failed attempt at trying to anger me. Also I'd like you to know, not because you've earned enough respect to warrant this but merely to rub it in your face, I did indeed get the refund for the free month I was supposed to receive.

Hell no I'm not playing. After getting treated horribly by the CS team and their little 'accident' with the extra charge why would I continue to give them money? Do you personally make it a habit to give away your money to people who treat you like crap and try to steal more money than is owed to them? For one of the accounts, and it took them over a month to do it. I've decided not to even bother trying to get the other account's monthly fee back because that would require dealing with their terrible CS department again.
Also yes, even though they gave me some of the money back they are still greedy. If a thief gives back something they steal they are still a thief, the same applies here.

They probably did it because you are so annoying. I doubt it was actually because they were in the wrong. I work in customer service, we do this kind of stuff all the time.
(Disclaimer: Don't take the following as an implication of what I think you're like)
It's actually quite disturbing. Some customers are actually rewarded for their astounding ineptitude, because we don't want to create a negative image of the company in their eyes. It pays off, though, I suppose. The fact that they're complete morons means they probably aren't that good with money, meaning if they look at us in a positive light, their irresponsible spending habits will go in our direction.

In all seriousness for a moment... thanks for posting. I went ahead and made an account there just in case. I had been there before when Rob posted here about Job, but I was too lazy to make one then. I hope VN gaheris doesn't go extinct like so many other boards I've been a part of, but it's nice to know there is a back up plan this time.

Is VN disappearing for good or are just some of the boards getting moved? I mean there is so much conflicting information from official people I can't really tell what is going on so I'd love it if you could explain what exactly is going to happen.

VN is being merged into IGN, but they can't move all the boards. Only 5-10 will get moved. 5 definitely, 10 at a stretch. PM's won't transfer, neither will registration date. We don't know about post counts yet, but we're hoping they will.
I don't know if VN will be left as an archive or what yet, we're only in the "this is happening, what to do" stage.

I have no interest in the original topic, I thought that was clear in that I never once mentioned it. My only interest in this topic was about the VN boards being removed, which is clearly evident in the conversation that went on. That conversation was concluded when beibhinn confirmed it. It is easier for rocks to give milk than it is for Quazimortal to accept or offer an olive branch or apologize or accept reason in any way shape or form. Someone of that sort cannot fail to show their true colors and since he has done so in the intervening time since I can at derive some closure from observing it. Some day he may surprise me and I expect the price of milk to drop.
As for the topic I wonder if there might be a way to request a database or file of the posts in the gaheris thread in case it is not archived but then as I type this I realize as soon as my nostalgic mood vanished I'll be back to the distractions and cares of daily life.
At least I don't regret joining gaheris server. There were many awesome folks drawn to gaheris and I have many fond memories of it.

Huh, I figured that quaz asked for proof because it just seems that a certain website has been trying to splinter the already small community for years .... and its gonna take a damn sight more than the postings of someone who does not represent vn or ign, to make me visit a different board.
simple fact is, if this board goes poof, then a LOT of old school players will simply be gone. I know I am one of them.
Just as I show my support for the game by continuing my subscription .... or my lack of support by NOT. I do the same for a certain website that properts itself as a gaheris community forum, and attempts to supplant the old VN.
I wont be visiting ... that is the best way I can think of to show my opinions.
