Its hard to get into any games these days. I'm just way too busy, with work, school, 3 kids, my wife and somehow in there managing to spend time with all of them and still try to make time for myself. I normally cut my own time out just enjoy getting 6 hours of sleep each night.
One day if I get the time I would like to experiment with other games. But I was spoiled with DAoC as my first serious pvp game. For years that was all I wanted to do. Now I couldn't hold my attention if my life depended on it. And other games have always left me wanting or utterly disappointed.

If they're smart they'll start early in the Succession Wars and save the invasion of the Clans for the inevitable expansion(s).
I really wish they had worked a deal with Harmony Gold to incorporate The Unseen into the game. I want my Marauder damn it!

I would guess that while there might be a planetary map where all the factions are battling over control for planets, the actual combat will just be two sides fighting it out on one of the common border planets.

Yeah and you know this how?
Cuase some fansite or marketing blurb said so, amirite...
I mean sure that old vid might help keep people interested until or IF the real product comes out.
PS. There's alot of fancy shit that can be rendered with modern game engines, but they might not run in real time.

They got delayed by over a year because that Reveal trailer landed them in court.
That's an Atlas fighting a Warhammer. Unfortunately the Warhammer is one of The Unseen. I even mentioned this issue in an earlier post but didn't expand on it, since I presumed Battletech/Mechwarrior fans would already know about it.
FASA stole a shiatload of their original mech designs from Japanese manga and TV shows - and FASA got sued into the ground. The Warhammer is one of those designs. This is why you never see it it any Mechwarrior game. Dittos for the original Marauder, Locust, Archer, Rifleman, Wasp, and a bunch of others. These are all iconic designs - have you never wondered why you never see them in any of the Mechwarrior games? It wasn't until the 'IIc' variants came out, which changed the original models to get around the copyright, that you see anything even resembling those designs come back.
Anyway, when they released that trailer in 2009, they got sued by Harmony Gold for the exact same reason. That lawsuit was the reason for the "All stop" in promotion and production.
The one good thing that came out of all this - since they were stuck unable to release anyway they used that time to switch from a single player title, to an MMO.
