Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

lol, pretty much. We've been in this Greece bailout "wait and see" mode since fall 2011.

I jumped out of microsoft when it hit around 31.5 a few days ago. I thought it was undervalued at 24.5, at 31.5 not so much. Also I think there is a lot more danger in the stock market right now -- World events could very easily take it down... Plus technically (unless we are going to run up to new highs) we have run up quite a bit without a correction... Dropping 500 points at some point seems necessary even if the market is going to work its way up from here. I mean it has been practically a straight line up from 11,800.

Gauge of US economic activity up 0.4 percent By MARTIN CRUTSINGER, AP Economics Writer – 5 hours ago WASHINGTON (AP) — A gauge of future U.S. economic activity rose in January for the fourth straight month, adding to evidence that the economy has strengthened in the new year. The Conference Board said Friday that its index of leading economic indicators rose 0.4 percent in January. The increase pushed the index to its highest point since July 2008. The measure of leading indicators is designed to anticipate economic conditions three to six months out. Its steady rise has coincided with other positive data that suggest the recovery is picking up. The unemployment rate fell to 8.3 percent, the lowest in nearly three years, after employers added 243,000 net jobs — the most in nine months. Auto sales are up, unemployment aid applications are down, and factories are cranking out goods at a healthy pace. "Recent data reflect an economy that started the year on a positive note," said Ken Goldstein, an economist at the Conference Board. Seven of the 10 indicators measure by the Conference Board increased in January, led by strength in the spread between short-term and long-term interest rates. Three indicators held the index back. The largest negative was a drop in consumer expectations. Goldstein said a separate index that tracks indicators tied to the current health of the economy had shown some strengthening in the October-December period and in January. The seven indicators that strengthened in January: the spread in interest rates, average factory hours worked per week, stock prices, a credit index, building permits, and two measures for manufactured goods.

Steady stream of dividends rolling in from diverse sectors makes perfect sense to me. I guess I'm screwed if people suddenly stop smoking, drinking, eating, pooping, using oil, shipping things, calling people, using electricity and so on.

I am waiting for the next stock market collapse to buy in but in the meantime, I want to pay down about $100k in debt in the next 2 years, before interest rates begin their inevitable ascent.

Not in Florida. Have to be crazy to be down there, stay up in the easy states like Kentucky and WV. No one is going to try to take those crackers hydrocodone away. They go back to making meth when you do.
