Bullsh1t. I had a serious addiction to monsters and 5hrs at the same time for a while. It wasn't unusual for me to drink two 5hrs and three "battery" monsters throughout the day. Your body just gets used to it.

Gross. I think I have drank 2 or 3 of those drinks in my lifetime. Once was in grad school and once was a 4 Loko just to taste it.
I have a tea in the morning and I am good to go. Back when I used to go out late and then have to get up in the morning I would get a coffee from Starbucks, but I don't do that anymore.

1) Taste. Not everyone likes coffee and a lot of these are flavored like citrus/fruit/pop/other mainstream beverages.
2a) Vitamins are different than caffeine. A lot of the "5 Hour" types are just stuffed with B vitamins. It's some ungodly number like 8000% of your daily dose. The jury is still out on what this does to your kidneys.
2b) If you're referring to "Red Bull" and the like, ya, it's pretty much sugar and caffeine with a touch of "interesting" things like taurine and ginseng. Some people claim it works, some are just following a trend and having a placebo effect. It's definitely a huge market though.

I've tried jack3d before. It was great. Did a 3 hour workout(swim, run, rowing, paddling) and felt awesome through the whole thing. Makes you tingly too.

the thing in the powder mixes for preworks recently that really makes the biggest difference is dimethylamylamine. might as well be a legal version of speed just without the addictive quality. it makes things like 5 hour energy seem totally weak in comparison.

alot of them raise blood pressure and heart rate while acting as vasoconstrictors. so yes, they can be dangerous if used too frequently. i only use the heavy duty stuff like the preworkout i mentioned earlier three times a week and at low dose levels. anything can be dangerous if used improperly. its like vitamin pills. take one a day and its good for you. take 5 a day and your going to screw your body up.

i remember standing in line at walmart one day. this mother was taking her two kids food shopping for there college dorm. the kids put a 24 pack of redbull in the cart. at the checkout the mother saw the redbull ring up. she flipped on them and they flipped back saying they needed stuff to stay awake...she stood her ground and did not buy it
these kids looked like the type that were going to use it for drinking and everyday activities...not to study
also to note energy drinks are bad on the teeth

My wife and I don't drink energy drinks of any type, nor do we drink coffee. She tried one of those drinks that was later banned to anyone under 18 (came out about 5 years ago, can't remember the name) when a co-worker brought one in, and got so jittery it freaked her out.
We'll have a Mt Dew or Barq's Root Beer (it's the only one that has caffeine I believe) now and then, and you'd think with our vampire/graveyard schedule we'd be hopelessly addicted.

It always used to be a Mt Dew or some kind of soda in the morning. I prefer the pep i get for my day with energy drinks more.
After the one I drink when waking up...it's pretty much nothing but water all day long. it's so dry here I just got into the habit of drinking tons of water at work/home.

i get it from Nutrishop. although the few nutrishops around here dropped from the company and renamed themselves Total Nutrition last month because the owners of the nutrishop label decided to cut out some products and focus more strongly on others they got kickbacks from. so our local stores owner dropped from the nutrishop label so he could carry a wider variety of supplements. so i'm not sure if regular nutrishops will still carry it or not. mine did before they dropped from the company so most likely they will but its hard to say, i have no idea which supplements the company was planning to drop that made them decide to go independent.

but its a little more expensive and you'd have to pay shipping. worth the money though considering how well it works. the only thing i don't like is it has splenda in it which i'm sensitive to but the serving size is so small that so far it hasn't bothered me.

energy drinks never seem to work for me. The few I have tried (amp, red bull, bawls, and another one I can't think of) have never worked on any occasion I have tried them...Bawls was the best tasting of them, but they don't sell it around here anywhere I have seen (and yes, I'm well aware I just said I like the taste of bawls).
