once, really late at night, miles from where we were supposed to be, and no buses running. I held onto a pencil in my pocket, if he tried anything I was gonna jam it in his neck.

Yes, once. I ran out of gas, on the freeway, in the freezing cold, it was snowing, and I had just had hand surgery and had a cast on my arm. I started to walk and a middle aged couple stopped to help me. When we got to the gas station I had the cashier take their license plate number just in case I came up missing. The couple knew I was scared and reassured me they were good people. The stupid things we do when we're young.

Driven a few people around the city been picked up a couple of times really damn glad to it's terrifying being stranded with no money
really don't know why there isn't some type of free transit esp on city buses for special circumstances
most people are just honest people in bad situations I'd say it's like 1% that are nuts and want to rob/murder you people blow it up way to much.
look at Lelu and Corban she fell right through his cab and boom badda boom they got married

Closest I ever got was taking a ride with an acquaintance of my Dad's who was going where I needed to be... Guy was nice, but damn that was uncomfortable and weird being alone in a car with a complete stranger (to me.)

Never hitchhiked, but I have accepted rides from strangers. Last time was two years ago in Cancun, we decided to save a few bucks on the taxi back and burn some calories with a walk back. As we walked a man, lady, and baby in a small toyota single cab drove by and stopped and asked if we wanted a ride. I jumped in the bed of the truck, my companion was mortified but complied. After they dropped us off, I tried to give them all the cash we had left but they refused and said tell your friends how nice Cancun is. Worst case, I knew I could jump out of the truck bed.
