So clean, cool, quite, and fast! Thanks for the advice on components! I went with the stock cpu cooler as I am not overclocking.

Nice specs. I'd Highly recommend a SSD. I did a build recently and by far and large the biggest impact on performance that means the most in my daily life has been the SSD

What size SSD would you recommend? I probably should have gone with and i5 and saved a little cash but, screw it, I am not going to overclock and the little photoshop and 3ds max performance bump works for me.

I went with a 60 gb but it was going for $60 after rebate, a OSZ Agility 3. I'd get one that's 6gig SATA and not 3. I like my 60gb but sometimes space does appear an issue.... It is a huge pain because I also have a lot of SDKs for windows and etc and some of them don't allow you to install on anything but the boot drive (or so it seems, as that is never an option. I might be missing something if anyone would happen to know?). I still have 14gb free right now, normally would be around 3gb~ so it isn't all bad by any means, it is just my one complaint. I think if you can find a good deal on a 120gb I would go with it. That's my opinion though. If you do nothing but gaming a 60gb with windows can probably do 2 good sized games easily, maybe even 3

i got a 128 gb crucial c300 SSD. I personally would not like to go any smaller in size otherwise I'd be fighting with the recycle bin all the time. I'd recommend 128 or if you got money to burn 256 gb crucial m4.

Well you can always set your recycle bin to 0 so it purges everything immediately. Have to be more careful, but it works for me. I wonder if there's a way to have that also transferred and managed on the data drive?

also, you may be able to overclock that a bit without any harm to the system. dick around with the configs if you can to see what you can get out of it.

Nothing in particular Zartan. The kids just decided my old box was a vending machine and fried it dropping change in the front panel... Amd? No thank you. When I started building pc's I got talked into them by you cheapasses. Never again.

In recent times Intel has been a better choice all around, and still is, but I gotta ask, are you that Outpost dude that kept killing his AMD-based PCs dead somehow?

So other than running hot, what other issues were you having? My 1090T runs pretty cool.

What models? My hottest one was the Thunderbird 1,2Ghz clocked it a bit and it could peak at 65-70 Celcius (I considered that quite hot) at times but that was well within specification, never had problems with it. The fan died once though during my heaviest overclocks, temp shoot to 90 degrees+ Celcius before I cut the power, but it survived and as far as I know is still alive and well as a surfing and email machine for my parents neighbours. Had 5 AMD processors since and they've all ran flawless, not to mention the 100s of processors (mainly Opteron line) I've sold when working with render and computational farms. AMD makes great hardware.

I don't remember. It was around 1999ish. I just remember it being pretty flakey and a pain to set up. I am sure they have improved since then. I am very pleased with this intel build. It's cool, quiet, fast, and was a breeze to put together. Modular power supplies are BOSS. From now on, I will never buy any other psu.
