Beretta Px4 Storm Type F Sub-Compact (9mm) http://www.berettausa.com/products/px4-storm-type-f-sub-compact/ I had been looking at it for awhile and looking for a good price. Fortunately, Gander Mountain ran an ad for it at $399.99 down from $449.99 which is definitely a price mistake. It's supposed to be $499.99 down from $549.99. I confirmed the ad price beforehand, but then got through the whole background check/application process, only to have them ring it up at $499.99 at which point the clerk promptly said "well f that," and marked off another $100. I had shot it a few times at a range so I'm pretty happy with it. Going to pick it up this weekend. Anyone ever shot one?

That is currently my carry weapon. I love it! *I really like the flip down extension on the magazines. It helps for my bigger hands.

Awesome! I plan to carry it to eventually with the new WI CCW laws. Do you have any recommendations for me? e.g. accessories, tips, etc

The 92 is a rock solid handgun. Tad big for CCW, but definitely something I would consider in the future.

I bought a couple of extra extended flip magazines for the range and to have 2 with extension to carry. The one that comes with it without the extension is not great for me. Other than that I have not invested in any holster of decent value I could recommend. jonus156 posted: http://www.berettausa.com/products/92-fs-made-in-italy/
That was my first gun ever many moons ago, still have it and was the main motivation for sticking with Beretta again.

Nice piece! If I ever own a Beretta pistol, it will likely be a model 92. There are so many other pistols I really like too...

nice. I just got myself a Ruger LC9 for Xmas. One thing I would recommend is to spend extra for a fitted leather holster instead of those cheap nylon "one size fits all" type.

Agreed on that. I presently use a Desantis stealth IWB holster (nylon, 1SFA) which I will be trading out for a crossbreed super tuck deluxe (custom molded by gun model).

In case there is confusion, I was talking about paying $499 for the OP's Px4 subcompact. I think I paid $600-$700 for the 92FS many many many years ago when they were first released for civilian purchase.

Well, a friend called to find the price so they could buy one. Gander confirmed the price mistake. It's supposed to be $450.

When I've got the cash to spare one day, I'd like to pick up a customized 1911.
But seeing as something like that will run me several grand...I'll have to wait.

I did think of two: 1) Depending on your comfort level of course, carry it decocked with safety off. Then in a rush situation you are ready to go out of holster without messing with the safety. If you are not comfortable with that, then do not carry it like that. 2) Practice at the range with the first shot long pull on the trigger. When it is decocked, the first trigger pull is much longer than the rest when it is cocked. You may already be familiar with this at the range. However, once again in a rush situation, you are prepared for the transition. Obviously if you have time to cock the hammer back, then it is not really a rush and no need to worry about it. But I would practice it. Just two things I have experience with this gun.

Maybe 25 years ago I bought a .380. Real piece of crap. I used a 55 gallon drum for target practice. I could hit it from 100 yards. Not bad for shooting a handgun like that. Most of the time the bullet would break thru the first layer of steel but not the second one and just drop inside. I suppose at 100 yards it would still hurt you plenty if it could hit you.

I have a Px4 Storm .45. Very similar. I've had issues with the slide action getting stuck when shoving the next round into the chamber. Not mine only, but a friend of mines' dad has the same gun as I, and has the same problem. Other than that, shoots well... but because of that issue I've had, it's not my carry weapon.

Pfft, with our Harper Government, everyone is a law abiding citizen. Who the eff needs a license anymore? ... or did they leave that piece of Government over reaching in law abiding citizens lives in place...

Ideology is not reality. To make good policy, one must consider all ideologies and decide which best solves the reality of the situation. Ideology is afterall, JUST AN IDEA.

_Alexandra_ posted: Nice. I just have your regular run of the mill 9mm Glock 17. Was what I learned how to use in Firearms at the academy so I went with it.
Glock 17 is a great gun, as are all Glocks, I was not a Glock fan before I bought the Px4 as I am now or I would have gone Glock. The 17 is bit large to carry "concealed" though, especially on a small frame like yours. Manesero posted: I have a Px4 Storm .45. Very similar. You have to consider a few factors here: 1) How many total rounds have you put through it? Guns sometimes, not always, need a break in period like a car engine. 2) How many different types of ammo have you used. Different ammo feeds differently through different guns. 3) Is it cleaned and oiled properly. Try a smidge of oil on the slide and feeding throat. Or the feeding throat may need to be polished. **4) Mild chance it could be a magazine issue too. I would pick up 50 rounds of a few different types of ammo to start with, after a good cleaning and oiling, and see which if any have the problems. If you narrow it down to a certain type of ammo, problem fixed. If not, then you can move on to polishing the feeding throat. Many different factors can cause this especially on a new gun. I personally have never had more than maybe two misfires with this gun in over 2000 rounds of different ammo. One of those was a bad primer and/or powder in the shell. It went "poof" with a little smoke and no bang. Primer was dented but did not fire, so that one was the ammo. Good luck. I would not trust it either as my carry if there is consistent problems. *Lastly, take it to a gunsmith to get it looked at. If you do not want to do that, then just sell it or trade it in and get a Glock, since you will probably never use it much.

Got two of Beretta PX4 Subcompact XGrip today and just went and bought a full size mag. Looks and feels great. Locks in place nicely! I will test it heavily at the range this weekend and report back. Go from 13 +1 to 17 +1 in a small frame if it feeds properly, which it should.
