Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

So here we are the last game of the season. It has been many years, almost a decade, since I have correctly picked the winner of the Superbowl. This year we get the New England Patriots against the New York Giants. Boston vs New York. Two cities that were raised to hate each other. New York ruined the first 19-0 season in NFL history. New York was a team that I left for dead in the first weekend, and somehow here they are in the Superbowl against all odds. New England is just doing the same old thing in a new season. The biggest story has to be the status of Gronkowski. We all know that he will play, but the question is rather or not he can be effective. It is very hard to imagine an effective New England offense without that safety valve mismatch for New England on the field. The other major story is going to be the New England offensive line. They were battered and pushed around by the New York defensive line in the last Superbowl these two teams met in. The New York offense should find much more success in this game than it did in the previous Superbowl. The other big sticking point is the New York come from behind victory in New England earlier this season. This New York team is not the same team that beat the Patriots earlier this year; they are much better now, than they were then. This should be a great Superbowl. It is very tough for me to pick. I want to see Brady get his fourth ring, but I am going to have to follow my gut this Superbowl.
My Prediction: NY Giants 34-24

Finally ended my losing streak in the Superbowl. It was a good game, the Patriots should really feel bad about the loss. That drop by Welker late in the game was a horrible mistake by the Patriots. If Welker holds onto that pass, I think we are talking about Tom Brady and his fourth Superbowl title right now. Brady could have done a better job of hitting Welker in the chest, but it still should have been caught. The other question I have is if a healthy Gronkowski would have been able to make it to that tipped ball on the hail mary. He was only a step or two away from it, one has to wonder if a healthy Gronkowski would have been a step or two faster. Great win by the Giants and Eli Manning, definitely has to be considered and elite QB right now, and I think he could even be argued as the best QB in the game right now. He has one more ring that Rodgers, Brees, and Peyton, and he also has beaten Tom Brady twice in the Superbowl now. If I had two minutes to go and I needed a touchdown, there is no QB I would want on my team ahead of Eli Manning right now, except maybe a healthy Ben Rothlisberger.
