My spouse and I came back to the game, once she saw the trial and all. Nice to see all the expansions are in and a change from when we played it. She wants to make a sub but I'm a bit wary. Before I do I have a question or two.
We decided to play on Gaheris because we didn't get too into the RvR before, but there is NO ONE around ... I mean these places are dead. Even getting out of the tutorial area we saw no other players no matter what time of day we play. Is this game set up to get people to 50 really fast? Are players mainly in the higher areas? Would we have a long wait of silence until we even find someone?
Is it worth sending an /appeal in game for help? Because I have a problem with a quest crashing me out everytime I try to do it, but doesn't look like DAoC has support anymore ... at least from the pages I've looked at and tried in game.

Your best bet for making Gaheris more enjoyable would be to join a guild. The odds of finding anyone to level up with is slim to none, but once you hit max level you guys can probably find someone to group with though.

right now population is a bit low, but there are nights like friday and saturday and monday where some are still doing raids. The new hub quests are great you can easily get to 40 in a day, and the gear they give is good enough for leveling. If you need help ask for rehtul in deadly intentions and I can give you a hand with whatever you need help with.

There's still a couple CSRs running around answering tickets too so your appeals get answered (I had a quest one a couple months ago that got answered in about an hour)

Welcome back to DAOC, and welcome to Gaheris. 
As was said, it can be pretty slow coming up in levels, especially when starting over. You can get leveled up quickly though with the quests in each town, or even with some old fashioned hunting. My wife and myself were gone for almost 5 years. When we first came back, our first couple days we saw maybe 3 people. So, we can relate to not seeing everyone. We were lucky though, already had established characters on Gaheris, which helped. I would say either get into a guild, preferably one with an alliance, and it should be ok. Can also look me up, just type /who Le Pacte and you should be able to find my wife, or myself as we are usually on every day.
As far as support, I had an issue with a quest on a Sunday, of all days, and was taken care of in about 30 minutes. My wife also had a "case of the disappearing pants" on her reaver, they contacted her in about 10-15 minutes, and took care of the problem. So, support is there.

I'm on at least 2-3 nights fer a few hours in the evenings, 6-10 pac time or so on weekdays, and often on and off all day on most weekends this time of year.. its cold outside.. just /who Ar Fein and its usually me..

The game is full of level 50's who raid or farm. Well, not really FULL, but you get the point: Lowbie zones (which means anything that won't be at least blue to a 50) are deserted.
There's two things to take into account: Number one is that if you and your wife play toons that work well together, then you can level pretty fast due to the crazy rate of xp these days. Number two is that there are perpetually PL groups at Grogans &/or Fins in Breifine. People there are generally quite willing to take extra bodies in even if they don't know you. So levelling really shouldn't be an issue. The question is what do you want your endgame to be?

Yep you can even get 50 in a few hours if you join a guild and get a good power level, then you can join the rest of the people who spend 10+ hours a day farming laby for seals and wait for a raid once or twice a week to do something interesting.
Well, until you get used to the same raids everyone does Dragons, Relics, ML10, Keeps, Cathal Valley (one keep). Then you're just as bored as everyone else and it's only gonna cost you 15 bucks a month per account. What a Deal!
But don't worry, after the first 2 to 3 months are done and you are bored to death you can join in the number one pastime on Gaheris... petty squabbles and lots and lots of pointless drama. YAY!!

You honestly don't even need a PL nowadays, with a duo I wager in less than 12 hours /played time you could get to 50 with the questline to 35 and how fast you go from 45-50 in CV. The slowest part will be the 35-45 trip, and even that can be fast if you do instances

35-45 is now about as fast 45-50 by doing the glass quests in oceanus.

Instances are kind of garbage compared to 200% xp and a good camp in NF or DF.

I been in a few over the years had my own for a while Leveled Power, then I went to BHP, took a few months off came back and noone was there so now I am in deadly Intentions.
