Hello old daoc buddies.

Today, I am here to talk to you about comics on the internet. They are pretty much great! Allow me to introduce you to a few of my favorites that you may not know about!

HOMESTUCK (ms paint adventures):
Blends animated gifs, flash animations, music, games, and totally ironic comics within the comic into a ridiculously complex, rich, fully realized world. This thing has action, huge laughs, very complex characters, and all the time/dimensional travel shenanigans you could possibly stand. I'm gonna link the most recent end of act animation (It will make no sense but might spark your interest to start reading. It makes complete sense after reading the whole thing.), then a link to the start of the story. Just be prepared...the artist has made over 4000 pages of this in under 3 years, so you're in for a LOT of reading.

HARK, A VAGRANT:
Kate Beaton has blown up lately after publishing an award winning collection of her comics and also doing some work for marvel. Here's my favorite of her hilarious history-based comics:

GUN SHOW:
One of the weirdest/funniest webcomics around. This guy's art style is great. Here's a comic from his "anime club" continuity that has one of my favorite panels ever at the end.

WHOMP!:
By a guy from another forum I frequent. This is one of my favorite comics these days, consistently gets a laugh.

CHAINSAWSUIT:
By Kris Straub, who's awesome and does the blamimations web series on PATV with Scott Kurtz, which is also great. Simple art, but consistently funny.

Oh and also penny arcade is the best but everyone already knows that.

So what are you guys reading, and most importantly WHY? And if one of you posts CAD then so help me god I will destroy you.

http://www.xkcd.com - funny, smart humor. Some of it over my head, but quality nonetheless. plenty of references to firefly and the like.

hi! i like hark a vagrant/kate beaton too! here are some others i read:

dinosaur comics - the creator's humour is just my style, i can never get enough of these
xkcd - not as consistently funny, but enough of them are clever/intelligent that i keep coming back
questionable content - was bored one night and started this one, so now i'm basically too invested in the story to quit...
axe cop - stories by a kid, art by his much older brother drawn to match. more awesome than you'd think

i also check, on somewhat of a less regular basis, a softer world - sometimes it has me cracking up, sometimes shaking my head, but always entertaining and unique

oh, and i highly enjoy nedroid, but i haven't been nearly as obsessive with his stuff

those are the only ones i regularly keep up with. i have a habit of going to the archives and staying up all night reading *all* of any webcomic i stumble across, so usually i have to keep myself from clicking on all the other ones they ^^ link to

i tried to start reading mspa one night but just couldn't really get into it

gunshow looks amazing

one of the things i like about webcomics is that it's really evident how much better the artist gets over time [in those that do change]

Penny Arcade
Questionable Content
Oglaf - not safe for work - do not link
Diesel Sweeties
Errant Story - losing interest though since artist has moved from 3 times a week to whenever they feel like it due to some crisis.
Dilbert - it's a comic, it's on the web.

I agree, if I've been reading something for years and the art isn't getting better, if it starts out poor, then I lose interest. If it starts out good then I don't mind if it stays the same. I quit reading Sluggy Freelance because of this and because the story wasn't progressing.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the Trenches since I think of it as a Penny Arcade comic.

I wanted to post oglaf but was afraid to.

It is so funny but so inappropriate on every level.
