I honesty have no idea. Up until I was 23 I had a twin bed, then I acquired another twin bed with the same mattress and wood frame, which I put together, then bought a strap to make them stay that way, then I bought a memory foam cover and a feather bed. Huge comfy bed for me.
No idea what real king size beds measure.

I don't bother with king size beds, I had one once and my ex and I never had to touch again, which I know most married couples are like WOOHOO, get his ass outta my space!
but it ends up being lonely if you never accidentally touch.

2 different tape measures 2200 miles apart measuring 2 different mattresses with same results
my friend sent me a pic showing how it didn't fit in the frame since it was too small
when she called me and told me the dimensions of her mattress i told her that was nuts and then mine was the same
