How many eat biscuits and gravy? When I was first married I tried real hard like to make good biscuits and gravy. I finally switched to a can.
Me: "Is that gravy good?"
Him: "Oh yep! It's great!"
Next day.
Me: "You like that gravy?"
Him: "Yep, yep, it's good!"
Me: "Ok, I'll keep buying it!"
Him: "Oh my gohs don't EVER feed me that stuff again!"
/scrapes it off his biscuits
Ahh, the newlywed stage! Seriously though, I do make very good biscuits and gravy now. I did however forget to add a few ingredients this morning which resulted in flat, less than tasty biscuits. The gravy I've been making is from a batch of venison sausage though. Not as much fat as good ol' beef.

Gravy is easy. It's the biscuits I can't get right. They range from flat to average. While my MiL just throws handfuls of stuff into a big bowl, pours some buttermilk on top, and they come out perfect every time.

LOL My first batch of biscuits were hearts. Couldn't find anything else and I was in a hurry! I actually just bought a new set of biscuit cutters the other day.

That's because southern Indiana isn't in the south and the ones you had were probably garbage.

You will be very glad you did..
Pally,, my collection of cutters has grown alot!!! Amazing what designs you can get now.
I have a collection of Christmas cutters that we used at the preschool I work at and made the applesauce/cinnamon ornaments. The snowman, angel and tree make cute biscuits too
My first biscuit cutter was a coconut can lol

:P you could be right, but then again I don't even like gravy to begin with so THAT on top of biscuits just spells for disaster for me...

Mom used a cheap plastic juice glass as long as I can remember. When I grew up and moved out, I took one of the set with me for the same purpose.

Ok, question. There are two ways of making gravy, brown your sausage and add the gravy making indredients
OR
take the sausage out once it's brown and make the gravy, then add the sausage back in.
Which do you prefer? And does it really matter?

Easier to take the meat out. You don't have to dodge it while browning the gravy. Avoids problems with flour lumps sticking to the meat, etc..

I [and several others in this area] just prefer gravy without meat. On a personal level, I'm not a huge fan of sausage - only on occasion. Also we usually make gravy from bacon rather than sausage
