a couple years ago kids threw snowballs at my car as I was driving by, but it was in our neighborhood so I was going like 5mph. I stopped the car, got out and grabbed hold of the kid by the arm of his coat (just fabric in my hand) and told him I'd beat him bloody if he ever did it again. He said he was going to go tell his mom, I said... yes lets go tell your mom what you've been doing! while we're at it lets call the cops! He changed his mind then and apologized.
every kid in the neighborhood straightened up after that, it only takes one crazy MoFo that won't put up with it.

Called the sheriffs office and they came through in an unmarked vehicle.... the situation went down hill for them at that point. Then they got real stupid and tried to snowball the house one night..... real smart running from my yard through two neighbors yards right back to their house in the snow..... real brain trust there.

it does depend on the age of the kids, the ones around here were at the time all sub 10, so they were still frightened of adults. Once they hit about 12, they get much bolder, and do stupid crap like what you described... as if you wouldn't see the tracks in the snow from your house to theirs.

That ride was meant to scare the 7734 out of them... worked for 3 of them. The 4th one got really stupid and attempted to escalate things even after I had him and his parents served with no trespass notices. That ended up in court.... several minor charges... criminal trespassing, etc.

we used to do all kinds of crap.. invisible rope across the road, fake bike crashes.. then ask people who pulled over stupid questions..
we used to climb this huge tree that hung over the road and would drop stuff on cars..
People would get out and scream at us, but they couldn't do anything because we were so high above them. LOL that would piss me off too if I was a dumbass who couldn't climb...
I think only 2 times anyone in my driving career has anyone thrown a snowball at my car/truck..
I put on the show.. slam on the breaks and watch them run.. but I drive away with a smile..

I can definitely tell that I grew up without snow. It took me half the thread to figure out that you guys were talking about a moving car. Thought who in the hell does that.... and then I realized that you were talking about kids. Ugh.

a couple years ago kids threw snowballs at my car as I was driving by, but it was in our neighborhood so I was going like 5mph. I stopped the car, got out and grabbed hold of the kid by the arm of his coat (just fabric in my hand) and told him I'd beat him bloody if he ever did it again. He said he was going to go tell his mom, I said... yes lets go tell your mom what you've been doing! while we're at it lets call the cops! He changed his mind then and apologized.
every kid in the neighborhood straightened up after that, it only takes one crazy MoFo that won't put up with it.
A smarter kid would have been like, "yah, let's go see my parents and call the cops and not forget to mention how you approached me on the side of the road and assaulted me for throwing god damn snowball"...
