When most of our VPs want to dump their Blackberries for iPhones and the CEO wants me to add his iPad to our wifi network. I think it seems apparent Apple is entering our enterprise world.

I'm working helpdesk with a cloud based IT provider now and not a single one of our 500 companies have a BES server. None of them.

Also as a cloud provider we do have a few BES servers floating around, but we are talking like two out of hundreds companies.

That seems a bit strange though. Large companies tend to be pretty slow getting rid of the old stuff. And BES is still far from dead.

We're adding iphones to our network, but I dont see us getting rid of our BES any time soon.

Our company, a software development firm, is even writing in-house apple apps to increase productivity. Many of my management functions are app-enabled, for instance timesheet verification, schedule change approvals, expense account submissions, etc. All mid-level managers and higher are issued an iPhone and iPad and we get an awful lot of productivity out of them. I know we are not the only ones going in this direction as we are building custom apps for other companies to use in-house as well.

Blackberry's are better at some tasks but I agree, they are essentially "done".

My wife's company, a big name pharmaceutical company (not mentioning name) has certain departments switching from Dell and Lenovo laptops and Blackberry's to Macbook Pro's and iPhones. They are even developing applications for M.D.'s, etc on the iPad. BUT, they are a still a MS shop using AD and Exchange. MS is late to the game regarding phones and tablets. The bigwigs want these items and they get what they want it seems. One thing Apple has going for it is a good ecosystem. Love them or hate them, all of their products, hardware and software work very well together. You have a Mac, with a iPod touch, iPhone, iPad and everything syncs together, etc (iCloud, iTunes, App store).
