Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Having issues getting Decal to work, I installed both AC and Decal to my Documents folder as noted elsewhere, still nada.

Yes, after your item #8 I get a DenAgent popup that reads, "Could not extract version information from acclient.exe" All Decal X's are red even after update. Using Decal 2.9.6.5. Clicking Export crashes Decal. thoughts?

There could be an issue installing to your Documents folder... I would install to some place like c:\Games.

1) Clean install of AC and Decal like so: AC to C:\AC\AC install Decal to C:\AC\Decal install -- same error 2) Clean install of AC and Decal like so: AC and Decal to C:\AC\AC install (same folder) -- same error

Also AC will not launch with Decal running... very odd.

OK I found this thread http://forums.ac.turbine.com/showthread.php?t=46632 and this post by Paraduck: "Try editing the PortalPath key in HKLM/Software/Decal/Agent" which I did. Now on Decal launch the error message "Could not extract version information from acclient.exe" does not appear, after I updated Decal I get all black X's except one which is still red - version 1 plugin Surrogate, which is normal. And AC will not launch with decal running. The AC launcher goes away but then nothing. acclinet.exe *32 is in my task manager so it's hanging. Works fine without Decal. It sounds as if you may need to uninstall AC or Decal and run a registery cleaner, you'd want to also reinstall the req's (yes again) in the order listed in this post http://vnboards.ign.com/ac_utilities/b5432/113031404/p1/?48 the specific walkthru is the 5th post down (4th reply).

Well I have followed The Procedure many times and nada. Decal crashes the AC Launcher. Out of ideas!

Are you running decal and AC as administrator? You might want to try uninstalling decal, running the decal registry cleaner (a must I believe), then try installing the decal 2.9.6.0 version instead of the 2.9.6.5 beta version. SL

I have a Win 7 x32 bit system that developed crashes anytime I had decal enabled, but I had wound up with a corrupted VVS bootstrap install (part of Virinditank), when I went to reinstall vtank I was missing a library it wanted, I installed that (and used Virindi's registry cleaner) and that system is works fine now. It's a Visual c++ thing, I forget the exact name offhand, the vtank installer automatically went and found it, I wouldn't normally suggest installing plugins into a non working decal install but you may wish to try it.

FIXED What did I do? Just for shits and giggles I installed Drakier's Dual Client and logged in through that, with ACDC starting Decal. Voila! In game with Decal. Now, if I exit ACDC and attempt to launch AC with Decal running, it still crashes the AC launcher. Through ACDC is fine. Weird.

It sounds like ACDC can find decal's path and tie to ac so they both work together. I already use ACDC so didn't think of suggesting trying it, my other that I use, is my Decal directory is in the same directory as my first AC install. Shrugs it works for me.
