Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

i-phone 3g/wi-fi question
|
So when at home my iphone connects to wi-fi, all works fine... When roaming my phone is supposed to connect to free "wi-fi" hot spots that are included within my monthly package. BT Openzone, I'm UK so that might mean something to some of you. However, when my phone is connected to these hot spots (usually weak signal) - Barely anything works. Youtube, itunes, appstore etc... None of it will connect. My understanding was that it would use 3G if wi-fi couldn't connect properly and therefore all of the functions should still work if only a bit slower? As it stands I only seem to be able to access facebook/hotmail when I'm not connected to a proper wi-fi I hope that makes sense but does anyone know a way I can get 90% of my phones functions to work when im in weak/no wi-fi areas!?

I think it's the same for any phone like this. If it can get wifi, it will use it no matter how crappy or weak the signal is. I've never heard of a setting that specifies to only use wifi if it has a strong signal.

I would think the only option you would have there would be to turn off the wi-fi is the signal is weak.

That hotspot might be blocking those sites. youtube = videos = bandwidth they do not want to provide.
