I'm here. Played on Hib-Nimue.
I'd still play DAoC if it was just the SI expansion and prior.
DAoC with updated graphics and a few other minor things, better character control, old frontiers etc. would be fking amazing.

Waiting for a new graphics engine for an old game is useless. Take it from someone who has been waiting for nearly 3 years for AO to release their new engine, when they said it'd be released before "Duke Nukem Forever". Well guess what happened... DNF not only came out, but failed hardcore, and has for months now, yet AO still doesn't have a new engine, with only crappy screenshots and the game director promising "it's coming".

DAOC was my first MMORPG. Most of my play was on the Nimue RP server. In the game and here, on the Nimue VN Board, there was a tremendous community with tons of fantastic roleplay stories and adventures. I have not seen anything like that in WoW. And the gameplay was certainly fun for the day.
I suppose many gamers hold out hope that a future game will combine all the best in the various games they have played. It's only natural. And, sadly, I think it's just about impossible.

I'm not waiting for a new graphics engine. They've updated the graphics for DAoC more than once I believe.
It's not the graphics of DAoC I have a problem with. It's pretty much everything they have done since ToA and beyond.
I would definately be all over a pre-ToA DAoC, old graphics or not. Updated graphics etc. would just make it a more viable competitor for todays gaming market.

This is actually one of the ideas I liked about ToA. It was implemented terribly though.

DAoC was a fun game, when Mythic weren't busy nerfing the piss out of everything interesting or putting in features that completely unbalanced certain aspects. Or taking perfectly good mechanics (old frontiers) and turning them into losers. Funny, sounds like Ghostcrawler now that I think about it.

After all these years just now canceled my DAOC account. I still love the PvP and it is pretty active on Friday, Sat and Sun, but RL wont let me play on those days now... so needing a game I can just solo now.. even it that is just fishing. For those that never tried it, with the new leveling system in DAoC you can get to 50 in less than a week.

Sure did. It was my first MMO. Loved it at the time, but in hindsight, playing it as I did was among my worst mistakes.
I did play WoW, and still have an account, but I don't think I've played in the last year.

The RvRvR is being done in a really awesome way in GW2. It isn't like 3 realms on one server, it's 3 servers fighting for control of one realm, that is separate from the normal world.
It's a fairly ingenious approach to large scale PvP.
