Moving WoW to a new PC
|
I have a new gaming computer ordered, and was wondering if there is an easy way to move my WoW install from my current PC to the new one without having to download WoW and all the expansions from scratch. Even if there is no "formal" way, perhaps I could just install vanilla WoW from my original CDs on the new PC and then copy the whole mess from my old PC to the new one ? Just looking for *any* shortcuts here... Thanks in advance !!

Copy the entire wow folder to the new PC and run the launcher from wherever you copied it to.

So the WoW install is not dependent on any Registry entries/settings ?

Not sure if there will be any minor patching/updating required if you do the above, but regardless it is still the quickest way to get up and running on a new machine.

WoW does not make any registry entries outside of what is in Add Remove programs from an initial install. Outside of that - you can copy and paste the folder to any computer, granted that is a large copy/paste heh.
