Needing to buy a tower that I can have and be using within the next couple weeks. Want an i7 with 8 gb of ram expandable to 16 at least and a decent graphics card for gaming purposes as well for around or under $1000. Was looking at this one at newegg....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229283
Any opinions on cyberpower brand prefabs? Was loooking at a couple others on there as well but this one was the cheapest. If I go for broke and stretch the $1000 barrier was looking at this one instead since it had a lot nicer graphics card and expandable to 32 gb Ram.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227372
Was wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences buying prefabs from newegg?

I've never had a problem with newegg. On the subject of ibuypower and cyberpowerpc, I had a pretty bad experience with ibuypower - substituting parts, doa power supply, horrible delivery time, and putrid customer service. There are a significant number of complaints about both companies. You would be far better, if you must buy a prefab, to go with Dell or something similar. They both have pretty poor reliability records and a google search will net you a lot of articles on them. Not sure where you are, but try a local store and see what they can do for you.

I was trying to order one from dell through best buy so I can get the 18 month no interest plan but that was three weeks ago and neither can actually confirm if I will ever get it because it is on backorder and they over sold it or something. Can't really get a straight answer out of either. And is the last straw ever using best buy again for anything. Was looking at newegg because they can do 12 months no finance. I basically just need a few months to pay it off but need one quickly unfortunately so it's limiting my options.

I had a friend who used ibuypower once and I forgot what went wrong, but the end result is he would never ever ever use them again.
What about trying to find a small computer store that builds computers to see if they have a financing option.

Since i have not bought a prefab PC in about 8years i cant help you to much. however since 1tb drives are going for 200+ right now, getting all that for 849 isn't a bad deal.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284 bought this back 2 almost 3years ago for 89.99. Kind of wish i bought another before this price hike.

I bought a computer from them years ago (think 10ish), it was a solid computer with no problems and at a good price. Maybe I'm the minority, but more likely, the only people that talk about ibuypower are the ones that got screwed over and us happy ones just go on with our lives. Granted, I hear a lot of bad reviews of the place though.

Very true. It could be a vocal minority vs. silent majority type of thing. But I get the feeling that the vocal people aren't really a minority on this one lol.

I agree that you get a skewed ratio of negative feedback on the internet... but it's still great for a 1 for 1 comparison between companies. When I read Dell feedback it's all... louder than expected, too much bloatware installed, too expensive for what you get, etc... When I read ibuypower I read Dead on arrival, installed cpu not one advertised, customer service was rude, etc... To me it's never about the amount of negative feedback... it's about what they are actually saying in that feedback. I have never read feedback as bad as the stuff I keep reading for those two custom PC makers on any other major retailer site. They may not be as bad as it reads... but they still have by far the worst feedback of any company out there

I agree 100% aleister, when I look at feedback online I look at the bad ones to see what their problem is. Some bad feedback has nothing to do with the product.

buying computers with money you don't have sounds like a bad idea. i'd strongly reconsider saving up $500 and building it yourself. no one ever likes that idea...but it's much wiser.

That would be great but I need to get one fairly quick and be confident I have no hiccups in its function because I need it for work. And I have no problems using 0% finance offers. Get them paid off within a couple months generally. I agree though that the majority of the population is not smart enough to handle financing on any scale and should shy away from it lol.
Anyway, I had originally ordered this computer but after I was told I'd have it in 5-7 business days it suddenly got put on back order and now can't seem to get an answer whether I will ever receive one. Kind of ridiculous.
Also was looking at this one but hated that it had a 5400 rpm HD.
But in general never using best buy ever again for anything. This was their last chance. No idea what I'll do but have to figure it out in the next couple weeks heh. Oh well, thanks for the warnings about the ibuypower and cyber products. Might just find a cheapo one to use for now and work on building one when I have the time.

As far as Dell goes, my parents have always bought prefab Dell machines and the first thing I do for them is reformat the thing lol. God damn they come with a lot of crapware.

I used Cyberpower many years ago, and had the most horrible experience with them. I don't remember it all in detail, as there was a lot of going back and fourth, but in brief, the hard drive broke after a week, they shipped the wrong video card, when I called them they said they will fix it and send me another one which was a lower model too, when I called again they said they don't even have the one I want in stock and have no idea when they will have it. Never paid for any of the shipping back and fourth, never returned any money from the price difference. I later heard/or read somewhere that Cyberpower and iBuypower are the same company.. or 2 branches of the same company, which would definitely explain a lot about the customer complaints regarding both. You can check this deal i found on techbargains.com http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/273966 Intel Core i7-960 3.2GHz Quad-Core (liquid cooled); 6GB RAM; 500GB HDD; DVD burner; gigabit; Windows 7 Home Premium; ATI Radeon HD6870; 1yr warranty; Alienware keyboard/mouse included for $1100 after code. Since its from Dell it should have financing. The offer is still available - expires Nov 5.

Thanks for all the opinions by the way. I had a prolonged battle with best buy trying to cancel my original order because the computer I was trying to buy got put on backorder. etc etc etc, long story short I got stuck with the Dell I was originally trying to buy a month and a half ago despite changing my mind and trying to back out of it. Oh well, serves me right dealing with those people (never using best buy for anything ever again). Definitely building my own next time. Wanted to this time but don't have a lot of time at the moment and needed one set up and ready to go as quickly as possible. And being that most of my computer experience is from tearing apart and fiddling with old computers that aren't worth anything I was scared to try this time since I was on a time table. Didn't want to spend $800 building a new one and f*** something up and be screwed for months while I try to resolve it lol.
Still pretty nice, thing freaking flies lol. Spent most of my first evening with it uninstalling almost everything on it and "fixing" it. But is a i7 second gen intel 3.4, 8 gb ram expand to 16, with a ati 6770, and 2 TB hard drive which I needed to store a lot of stuff on. I'll live with it for the next 4 or 5 years.
