looking for some help, recently started playing AC again. just downloaded and updated decal, when i log in to the server the game loads but the screen stays black with the gold cursor.

That is probably what is causing it. Try uninstall and reinstalling decal and see if it fixes it. If not you will need to get the decal clean utility. I think the utility is on skunkworks website, but not sure. There is a post below this somewhere with the link to it.

Go into the decal options and change the update server to http://www.virindi.net and then hit the okay button. On the main screen then hit Update.

After uninstalling decal did you run the clean utility and then reinstall? (and then set the new update server)?

You have DX but did you reinstall it? It has to be DX 9.0c that you reinstall. Reinstalling DX11 would not help. Microsoft treats them as two separate programs.
