Hi i am using vista 64 bit premium. ac and the decal install progam are in my c/games. When i try to install decal 3.0(alpha 8:2.9.6.0) i get a pop up that says" you do not have the latest version of .net 2.0 installed" then it stop and closes. Has anyone run into this before? any help would be great

It means that you need to install .Net 2.0.

lol , well i have 2.0 sp2 installed. i have looked for something more update then that, but it just jumps to 3. So i am stuck....net 2.0 is part of vista so that makes it so i cant uninstall it to reinstall a new one. well i havent found a way.

Not familiar with Vista so the details might be a little off, but if you go to Add/Remove Programs there should be something that says Turn Windows features on or off. Check to see if .Net 2.0 is listed there and if it is, uncheck it. After that, try reinstalling. (Make sure to reboot inbetween.)

tried your sugestion but there is no 2.0 in there ..was a 3.5 so tried with tht but it didnt do anything. I can find what i think is the actually file in the windows folder but not sure if i should try deleteing it directly .
edit:seems i cant remove the old 2.0

I did a little searching and confirmed that .Net 2.0 can't be uninstalled on Vista and probably Windows 7 as well.
Did you try installing .Net 2.0 on top of itself? There's also a 32 bit and a 64 bit version. You could try both of those to see if they would.
There's also this link on repairing .Net 2.0 on Vista. May or may not do anything for you.

It's possible I may be overcomplicating the solution as well. I do not think you are the only person to have had that issue, but I can't remember what was done to fix it.

well i figured out the problem. UAC (user access control) needs to be turned off for decal to install, then it can be turned back on. Such a simple thing, but such a big headache!!
