This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.

Lucid Virtu Universal MVP with Hyperformance

Lucid has a new update to it's Virtu motherboard technology. But first a little recap on what they've done so far... * Lucid Hydra (2008) Three years ago Lucid gave us Hydra. A tech that lets motherboard mix and match completely different graphics card and run them together to boost performance. Like Crossfire or SLI, but without the need of the cards matching. It somewhat worked in some situations. * Lucid Virtu (Feb 2011) Early 2011 came Virtu. This lets your computer use both the integrated GPU in your Sandy Bridge CPU and the discrete graphics card together. Virtu decides which GPU gets which task, so video play back will go to the Sandy Bridge GPU, while 3D gaming goes to the discrete graphics card. Works pretty well, though does have a small penalty to 3D performance. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4199/lucids-virtu-enables-simultaneous-integrateddiscrete-gpu-on-sandy-bridge-platforms * Lucid Virtu Universal (June 2011) A few months later arrives Virtu Universal. Adding support for AMD Llano processors and mobile Sandy Bridge and a new feature called Virtual Vsync. Normal Vsync removes the screen tearing effects caused when your graphics card is running at an FPS higher than your monitor can display (60 FPS with most monitors), but it has a side effect of creating more input lag. Virtual Vsync helps remove that input lag and doesn't limit you to 60 FPS. Virtu Universal MVP adds another new feature called Hyperformance. And it seems to go hand in hand with Virtual Vsync. Virtual Vsync works after the discrete graphics card renders a frame and helps improve responsiveness. Hyperformance tackles the issue from the opposite, before the frame is rendered. It intercepts calls between DirectX and the graphics card and looks for redundant draw commands and removes them from the rendering process. And while the card isn't actually rendering more frames, it gives the feel that it is and makes the game feel more responsive. So I'm guessing neither is actually available yet. And Lucid's latest driver still mention Sandy Bridge CPU required (Universal adds AMD support). So we are still waiting to see how well Virtual Vsync and Hyperformance actually works and what side effects these might have. And hopefully if a motherboard already is certified with Lucid Virtu it should be able to use Universal MVP as well. But waiting to see about that as well.
