Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

About 4 or 5 years ago, the quest A Matter of the Heart was introduced. The reward was an ugly little valentine imp lawn trophy and I really wanted it. I was into the trophy's and decorating my house. The quest required you to go to Agramon Island, find the imp and slay him to get his remains. So one afternoon when things were slow, I went hunting with my blademaster. I found the imp and proceeded to engage him. He was a purple con mob, and pretty tough to solo, but I was holding my own. Along comes a Mercenary who naturally begins to attack me. I wasn't going to back off the imp, he was pretty hard to find and wasn't stationary so If I died and came back, I'd have to start the hunt over. I thought maybe I could kill the mob before the merc took me out. I ignore him and stay on the imp. I really wanted that trophy! After a few hits, he stops and just stands there for a bit. I'm still holding my own, but the imp seems to have the advantage of having a little more life than I do at this point. So the Merc shield slams it, hits it twice then backs off and watches me finish off the job. He bows to me, waves and starts to move on his way. I hit a couple heal pots to bring my health back up, and begin to head towards the Hibernian Lab entrance. Next thing I know, I'm being attacked by a Spiritmaster and Warrior duo. I jump on the SM first, but my hits aren't doing much since the warrior is guarding her while hitting me. Along comes the Merc who starts hitting the Warrior. We win the battle, he bows, I curtsy and we both go our separate ways. I never did find out who it was, or even if I know him on a Hibernian alt, but since that trophy is still in my yard, I can never forget that very strange encounter. This weeks Topic of the Week wants to hear about your strangest or most memorable RVR encounter.

I beleive i have mentioned this before but i remember when myself and Bruticus of Hib Lancelot would lead almost daily raids on Beno. We would normally capture the keep with ease but it was what came to fallow that made it memorible. We usually would be at the keep for 10 minutes or so before lag spikes would start hitting us (100+ albs just entered hadrian). Then all of a sudden a massive battle would take place outside/inside of Beno. It was an incredible encounter. Usually around 4 or 5 groups of Hib would spend about an hour defending Beno before the 100+ albs would finally take over. I used to have old screen shots of myself and my guildies (Imperial Guard) right near beno door dead with around 100 albs rushing into the keep.
Once the era our large scale keep raid and old frontiers ended i discovered Gaheris and never looked back. (8v8 can be fun but im one of the only people i think who liked zerg v zerg)

Nope, your not. Some of my best times in RVR were zerg v zerg v zerg. One battle in particular I can remember...casting group / spread heal for 45 minutes during one of those epic battles.

My all time favorite rvr moment was a Thid moment from back in the day. The CK was under siege by the hibs and mids and any albs who were trying to run to it were getting ganked by these 2 mid SBs as they ran down the hill. The kill spam and chat were giving me a pretty good idea what would happen if I ran straight down the hill so instead I ran to the right as far as I could go and was going to swim across the river and over the mid bridge (because the mids were trying to choke off reinforcements and not watching said bridge). Not to let a matter such as me not going into their little trap stop them from ganking me they dropped stealth and gave chase. I send my amber simmy after them and sprint away assuming it will die but also buy me time. A minute or two pass as I arrive at the CK. I go inside and notice kill spam that says that one of the SBs was killed by an amber simmy. So I chuckle a bit and think, 'nice he took one with him before he died. Well done little pet!' So I am getting ready to pepper the opposition with aoe dots and disease when I see a second kill spam. The simmy managed to kill off both SBs. A few things to note here: -Obviously for rvr I spec'd primarily matter for the aoe dot, and at the time I did not have a bot account which means the pet had whatever buffs my off speccing of spirit would give it -for some reason it is obvious the SBs decided to fight the simmy -the mids obviously were counting on choking off our forces at the hill because suddenly the death spam on albs stopped The thing I always wondered was what did these 2 SBs say on their end. I imagine it had to go something like this SB1: Hey that cabby is running in a different direction SB2: 2 of us and one of him let's just sprint after him and melee him down SB1: Good idea SB1: He sent his simmy after us lol SB2: who cares? It'll die when the cabby does and.... nuts he stunned me SB1: we have to kill it now SB2 was killed by an amber simulacrum SB2: Crap in a hat he killed me SB1 now he is chasing me SB1 was killed by an amber simulacrum SB1: We just got killed by a pet SB2: We never speak of this again SB1: Agreed

I was in his group but not seeing this but it basically went like this.... We are in Midgard somewhere in Yggdra Forest... Asgala Scouting.... "Holy crap I see the Albs! They just set the Horn in the river! I mezzed one snared the other and grabbed horn and SOS'd outta there... I replaced horn. I'm the coolest skald ever"! An entire Alb Zerg was out classed by a speedbot! A minstrel or bard couldn't have played it better, thanks Jason for the great gift!
