Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215119 what i'm looking at. it's not for me but i've only had 1 experience with acer products and it was HORRIBLE. was in the 90s though. basically, i know that the specs for that are awesome for what this person wants. does acer have good touch pads, keyboards and nice screens? price wise i was told "750 or less." so after seeing you cannot customize your processor on the dell not xps laptops, i went to newegg and punched in like i5 and what have you and got that.

From newegg's photos: Having USBs on both sides is a good deal. The keyboard has a separate number pad which is a nice feature - it seems cramped though. The Touchpad looks like it only has a single button. I'm more partial to a two button, but that's not a big deal. For the price, it seems like a pretty capable laptop.

I wouldn't say yes or no based on the Acer brand, but I tend to say, stick with your gut. If you've had a bad experience with a company, you will go into the next purchase looking for problems. If you look for problems, odds are, you will find them.

yeah i'm not one of those people. i'm completely willing to get an acer notebook right now. i was just looking to see if anyone had a different recommendation or knew anything differently. i have 2 years of tsr experience telling me hp and compaq computers are a vortex of suck and fail but i've heard that the hp notebooks are pretty good now. so i'm not holding a 14 year grudge with acer or anything. companies change and they're obviously still in business because my experience was either a fluke or they changed for the better. either way, i'm happy to give them another go. my sister wants me to order a dell but i'm like they are way too expensive for the lack of options they give you.

i've had an acer dual core netbook for about 2 years now. the build is solid and it has held up to TONS of abuse. Laptops can be so hit or miss...but my little netbook is a beast.

i had a hp dv9000t that ate it... terrible cooling design. ended up getting a similar laptop to the one linked above. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115866 works great... only thing i do not like is the LED monitors. it does produce some deeper blacks but the color uniformity is pretty iffy. not a great viewing angle vertically (horizontally it's fine though). everything else is pretty damn sweet though especially for the price.

Go Asus or Workstation class Dell or go home, IMO. Having worked on and owned and dealt with (and now WORKING support for Workstations), I have to say they are the most well built and best supported Notebooks around.
