There's no doubt that playing DAOC is a very social experience. You run into the same crowd each day, get into a guild, form bonds and friendships. Certain names pop into your head like Kzar, Toplin, and Gooby. You've see them around the frontiers, in your alliance, or guild. We all know the current zerg leaders, raid leaders, and relic takers. You get to know who to turn to if you want to do ML10, need a template, or want some spell crafting done. Whatever the reason, there are just certain names in game that you always remember.

I personally thought of Depstock when this subject came to mind. I ran with him quite a bit when he was gm of Freaks of Nature. He was the reason I rolled a druid. Many people remember him as being quite crass in game and there's no doubt at times he was. I remember him as being a lot of fun. He loved to instigate and trash talk. Then he would sit back and laugh at the reactions he got. He hated PVE, and getting him to a dragon raid was a nightmare, and took weeks to accomplish. He was always up for RVR, and often ran solo until the rest of his group logged in. People thought of him as somewhat of an elitist, but he wasn't that at all. He was actually a very private person with a quirky sense of humor, and preferred to stick with the friends that understood it. He enjoyed playing DAOC and was a lot of fun to run around with.

This week's Topic of the Week wants to know what names pop into your head when you think of the most memorable players in DAOC?

If you have an idea for a topic you'd like to see, please drop me a line.

To me this means people no longer playing. (other might see that differently)

So my top 5 would be, not in any order

1. Jup
2. Mplode
3. Kuk
4. Baire
5. Dera

All have there own reasons why they are memorable to me

The most influential fer me were:

Andrya Jones (or wendy or most any other Jones toon way back)
Vromak - good buddy.. taught me to farm.
Gleep and Geo - tied because they were both fun raid leaders back in the days..
Tralfaz - my brothers armsman i used to play with when i was learning game with my shaman..
Trilo - Took me in to Ar Fein and has been a blast to play with since then
Zuzz - old buddy from my first guild (Wooden Sword Wonders) when i was told he was invited and there was a thane out in Mularn. lvl 7.. that needed some guidence.. i was all but lvl 15 or 16 at that time.. hehe

Many others..

All for VASTLY different reasons:

1. McGrim
2. Mplode
3. Trilo
4. Xeen
5. Quasi
6. Tiffany
7. Twirlin

Some those are not necessarily the people I played with the most, but certainly the people who stood out the most. A couple of those were memorable because of how bad, asinine, or just douchy they were.

edit: Have to add Twirlin to this list. Sure he was a douche ... but he was memorable, and that was the subject.

Heh, I read this thread earlier and thought about who I'd list and you would definitely be on my list as well Wrath. Hopefully I didn't make your list for the bad reasons you listed. laugh

In fact I'd have to include all the old gang from Knights Watch. Man those were some fun times!

1. Zhuge
2. Botta
3. Izle
4. Oda
5. Legiliwin

These are the most memorable to me, I'll never forget zhuge, he taught me all the fine details of the game, all the intricacies of each class, and how to make templates for my toons. I'll remember botta as the first savage I looked up to and ultimately was why i decided to make my main a savage. Izle was just a great guy to be around, my game expierence was always better when he was around. Oda and Legiliwin are my current gm's and are the main reason I'm still subbed, they make the game fun to play still and are perfect examples of great gm's.
