Well that is the path and executable file that launches the command prompt. Is the box your seeing a regular error dialog window or is it a black command prompt window? Does the Window have any more information on it? Any buttons on the window?

it a black command prompt window but can not type anything in the box and the top of the box is blue with the message in it. the message is not in the black box itself

IF this started happening, then you need to uninstall what was recently installed...if it was a driver install, reinstall the previous version...but X:\ stands for the drive path as if your infected or someone has networked the machine.

Sounds like he's having trouble even getting into Windows. Maybe try pressing the F8 key a few times before Windows loads and try using "Last Known Good Configuration" choice.

Maybe try pressing the F8 key a few times before Windows loads and try using "Last Known Good Configuration" choice. yep tryed that but same again up pops the box . am i right in thinking i will need to reinsall windows again this prob is a head spinner. ive looked in windows boot manager and its saying : file:\boot\memtest.exe. status 0xc000000f. application is missing or corrupt. if that makes sense to anyone .

You could try a REPAIR install first.

Hopefully the hard drive isn't corrupted and losing data. If you have another computer, I would probably slave the drive and do a chkdsk.
