The game just had its first decent patch in a long long time as SOE moved a team over from another game ( used to be just 1 or 2 guys ).. I think this means that Vanguard will be going f2p in the near future and if it does I will be there.

It's pure speculation at this stage. At the time of the launch the f2p business model wasn't established so it isn't surprising that nothing has happened before. Personally I wouldn't read too much into the recent patch which simply fixed a lot of historic bugs rather than adding content.

Ya know, if it does go f2p I would probably roll a new character and give it another go. I always liked the potential of the game just did not want to pay to test it.

Same. I also heard that the bugs were so bad that with minimal population there were issues.

The main problem now is that the population is soooo low that even if you did like the game there was no one to play with and there was really no reason to take up tradeskills either because of it.. The game having a dev team again no matter how small just makes me believe / assume that SOE is going to try going f2p with the game.

I really liked the game and it had a lot of potential when it first came out, but there were alot of bugs and the average mmo gamer has only a mid range at best box which wasn't sufficient to play it.
I had at the time a 3.2Ghz Wolfdale, 8Gb ram and dual 8800 Ultra's on raided raptors and the game ran like crap for me... I cant imagine what someone on a 754 socket's experience was... lol
I really love that the game gives you soo many diff class's and races. Games like wow where you only have a very small number of each and everyone is exactly the same drives me absolutely bats*#t.
And they are the only MMO imo that got the cleric right. At least unless they destroyed it since I last played it... Full plate with a mace and shield right next to the warrior hehe.

Ahh... Vanguard. My fondest memories of that game were spending 2 weeks researching the Tech Support forum and having to tweak this file and that file, and sacrificing a virgin chicken, just to get barely acceptable performance from my high end computer. Good times.

EQ and RIFT both have plate wearing mace wielding clerics.
