HP has cut the price of the TouchPad 16GB to $99 and the 32GB to $149. A number of online retailers already discounted the price and are out of stock. Though Amazon hasn't cut the price (someone says they will at 3AM PT).
Otherwise your best chance will be at retail stores. HP says retailers can make the $99/$149 price available starting Saturday morning.

Try BESTBUY also as they had 27,000 of these in their stock rooms from an Article I read. This is what actually pushed them to leave the market and blame Apple for their demise.
They are using the WebOS and were competing against tablets with Windows and Android.

I got a Touchpad 32GB late last night from Walmart for $500. Today I was able to get Walmart to price adjust it down to $150.
Only played with it a little today. Actually was surprised at how nice the tablet feels in my hand. It's not as heavy as expected and the smooth rounded edges and rubberized back feels good. And it has an IPS display that looks very good. Speakers sounds great too. The hardware isn't as bad as I thought.
The OS can be a bit laggy at times and sometimes seems a little slow at loading things. But I really like the multitasking.
As expected though, the big downer is so few apps. Only 1400 in the store and not all of them are Touchpad optimized (looks like most are though). Off hand was disappointed that there is no Pulse, Dropbox or YouTube apps. There is a YouTube icon in Apps, but that just takes you to the website. The YouTube website works okay enough, sometimes hard switching video qualities with the finger input.
Pretty happy with the tablet at this price. It's a shame there were so many retards out there buying multiple tablets only to sell on eBay. Hopefully those that actually want this can get lucky and find some. Maybe HP still has more they may offer (perhaps units being returned from retailers or refurbs). Or with so many people selling on eBay, those lowlifes may get worried and have to sell the tablets at no profit.

Before the guillotine fell last week, there was a leak that Best Buy had over 270,000 tablets, but only sold 25,000 (and may have had some returned, meaning even lower actual sells). That's 10% or less actually sold. Now with the fire sale it seems pretty much all are probably gone. And I would guess other retailers may have had similar stories.
What this probably means is that number of TouchPad owners just multiplied by 10 fold at least, maybe as much as 20 fold. With possibly half a million tablets now in the hands of users, I really hope that devs continue working on apps they might already have in progress. And perhaps to continue working on more. Really hope so.
I just following a guy working on a manga reader app, there are none available now. And I was reading a thread with some folks working on RDP clients, also completely missing from WebOS at the moment. RDP client would be really exciting, even a crappy one at this point, haha.
Just some wishful thinking.
In the meantime, other hope for an Android port. I'm a little skeptical if a stable Android port will ever happen. But at least this guy thinks it's already happened and he has one.

WebOS has a lot of built in event logging for just about everything that goes on. Like a full on debugger mode running constantly. And this slows down the performance.
I followed the instructions in this article to disable the logging (oddly I had to create a Skype account, just to get to the dialer program that enables me to turn off some of the logging features).

I'm actually pretty surprised at how nice the tablet is.
The hardware is better than I thought, the 10 inch IPS screen is beautiful.
The Beats audio speakers sound great. Probably the best tablet speakers I've heard.
Tablet feels really comfortable in my hand.
Multitasking is really nice on the OS.
It started out slow, some people said it speeds up after using it a couple days, but the performance tweaks linked earlier help too.
Really the only big fault this tablet has is a lack of apps. And that is a really really big problem of course that lead to it's demise. Just hard to get developers to make apps for too many different platforms at once.
But for $99. This thing is absolutely a steal as you can still do quite a few things with it.
* Web browser
* Email
* E-reader
* Streaming music
* Watching copied MP4 videos/movies
And I'm sure people can find a few more things.
There are big gaps in the app store. But this thing is freaking cheaper than a Kindle. I feel bad for anyone that hasn't been able to get one of these yet. It's a steal. There is rumors that HP still has a lot more to sell though. So hopefully people will get more chances that want one.
After playing with this tablet though, I'm thinking HP gave up too early. I really hope they can get some third party hardware manufacture to pick up WebOS and hopefully help keep the third party development activity moving. Though I guess that probably won't happen. It's a shame.

By the way, that Qualcomm 1.2 GHz processor in this tablet is better at playing back HD video than the Tegra 2 sadly found in most Android Honeycomb tablets.
I just copied over some 1080p videos downloaded from YouTube that would stutter on Tegra 2 Honeycomb tablets (I tried Xoom, Transformer, Galaxy Tab, all the same), they play back flawlessly with the TouchPad.

Not sure if it was OnSale or someone else. But there was a lot of complaining about someone canceling a lot of orders and it turned out the company had absolutely no connection between it's warehouse inventory and it's order taking system. So they sold WAY more than they really had.

For those of you still wanting an HP TouchPad, do not abandon hope yet. HP is reporting still making some more tablets and will continue to through October. Seems they still have components they've already paid for and so will go ahead and put the pieces together and sell them.
So keep an eye out.
HP also mentioned there will be another update coming that will add more functionality to the tablet, but they didn't give any specifics.

I'm surprized they did not have a disclaimer saying that the discounted price is applicable only to available inventory.
Are they trying to seed the populace with WebOS devices to secure user-base for future WebOS products? There was some article about them spinning WebOS off into a separate R&D department or some such. Hmm... WebOS not as dead as we were initially led to believe?

HP always said they are keeping WebOS alive. Now they have to separate it from the PC business since they are spinning that off as a separate company and want to keep WebOS at HP. HP only killed the hardware. They are trying to find someone else to make WebOS hardware for them. So far there doesn't seem to be any interested parties though.
