There's three editions. Collectors, Deluxe and Standard. Deluxe still has some of the stuff CE does, that's what I ended up getting.

On Origin. Looks like there's some copies still available other places, my apologies. I was only looking at where I was buying it from, not at other stores. ^_^;

I would hope they are smart enough to flood the market with many many more of the collectors edition, else all they are going to do is piss off their fans make some speculators very happy Ebay 240 to 320 or more per copy

Well, I played in the beta a while back and so I know I will like it enough to pre-order. I can at least level a toon up and starting early (probably over Xmas break) will be a ton of fun! There were some issues I had with the game back then but I am told those problems are fixed/changed... so hard to tell. I will tell you I was in love with my character.

Yeah. I wasnt so happy with the early play time in Rift. Ill just wait a few weeks/months until servers are stable and people have already got the leveling aspect of the game down. Would be easier to me just to search some game sites for hints etc.

I will not buy any MMO until it has been out for a month and the subscribers still enjoy it at that point. I can't count the boxes of crappy MMOs that sit behind my computer desk today. That is where they land after they bounce off the wall... WoW is such a craptastic game nowadays. I don't even now why I play it. I just keep on plugging away for whatever reason. Habit I suppose. When I spell-check on "craptastic" I get capitalistic showing up. Funny and true.

I'm currently mmorpgless myself (unless logging into eve to change skills and logging out counts) but I've been surprised with the quality being shown by indy or small devs lately, along with one or two larger ones who haven't yet lost sight of making the game for the gamer. HoN, TF2, dwarf fortress, blood bowl LE, mixed in with the old standby Civ 4 (I didn't like 5 when I tried it) and the very old Operational Art of War... just not seeing the need for a theme park mmo when other games do what they are trying to do so much better. Now, if another sandbox one came along... then let's talk.

I'd resubscribe to EvE in a heartbeat except that I screwed my security status prior to my cancellation. Not fun grinding back from a -10.0 sec status. I don't feel like starting a new character either :P Just need to wait for the next sandbox. Been playing a lot of indie games myself lately.

Why do people preorder games? Especially an MMO.
I will wait till three months after it has been released to check it out. Hopefully by then there have been some post release patches and server population questions addressed etc.

Some of us like to be there at the beginning watching a game grow. Being able to say, 'I remember when' to the first days of an mmo launching. It's also exciting to potentially be 'first' at something. In 3 months all you would feel is behind imo.

I use to be a quick to jump on the bandwagon thing. But after a few times, I learned it was more beneficial to wait, stability, pricing, balancing act/nerfing early on. I enjoy watching gaming companies send me emails of drastically reduced software now after playing their free trials much more. So instead of $59.00, in a couple of months they break down to asking for $10 or $15, sometimes lower. I can't imagine tossing $159 into any game at one time, but to each his own I suppose.

i don't see anything wrong with preordering especially since theres already betas to play and lots of media to get an idea of what the game is like. based on what i played tho i won't preorder this game as it was not very good. i will wait till a few days and decide if i wanna buy it like i did with warhammer

The arms race. If SWTOR has rising levels of gear as you level up or skill up, then it has an arms race. Anyone not at the forefront of the arms race is going to lose out on "fair" PVP. And not pre-ordering anything here. Gonna wait for initial reviews from open-beta and release to make up my mind on whether I will play it or not.

I just looked at the site for TOR. Whats the point of any class other than a Jedi? I just dont get it. The Jedi seem to have "everything" while the other classes have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Why would anyone play a "Trooper" or a "Bounty Hunter"?

Kinda hard to know everything about these classes till we get to play. I do know both of those are capable of being ranged tanks, which is something different.

because light sabers won't cut off limbs? This game has "hokey" written all over it.

Hopefully someone can explain this MMO 099 question to you, I lack the time and patience right now.

They don't have "everything".
Kriegprojekt posted: while the other classes have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Why would anyone play a "Trooper" or a "Bounty Hunter"?
Why would anyone play any class? Why play any game? Why get up in the morning?
Why would anyone ask why anyone would play any class in any game? Are you suggesting that nobody will play Trooper? Well, they will. Many thousands of them.
Because...(drum roll)...they want to.

That is a farking terrible post Kryv. Now I'm not following the game very closely so I don't know one way or the other if Krieg's claims are true. However, if they were he has a very good point. You NEVER want a class that can do everything, and most of it as good or better than anyone else. If you can't see why that might be, then you should probably concentrate less on snarky posts and more on what makes a mrpg work. And if he's wrong, then your post still sucks because "they want to" is the worst excuse for not even trying to get to a modicum of balance between classes I've ever seen. Think first, post second.

Kyrv's post is spot on, and Jedi can definitely not do everything.

So does most everyone else. How else do you explain that druids and paladins are the most played classes in WoW?

IIRC other than when bearform went super OPed, druids have consistently been one of the least played classes. While you are correct that players do tend to want to be able to do everything, the classes they gravitate towards are the ones that can do everything all at once, ie paladins (at some points at least). Druids specialize to only one and tend to be difficult to play well even for that one (other than bears), making them unpopular with the unwashed masses. This is probably compounded by the poor models druids had to choose from up until cataclysm. The fact you had to be either a fruity or ugly nightelf, or a cow, was probably the biggest thing that kept me from playing druid for the longest time. Resto druid was probably my second or third favorite class/spec though once I finally did in WotLK. Oh, and Kryv's post is still terrible. Very out of character for him, he is usually not that bad a poster. Must have ate some bad clams.

Don't forget the bird form node farming. Consular looks more fun than Knight IMO. Hubby disagrees about both and wants to be a bounty hunter or trooper. Whichever one was the ranged tank.

I don't know about the entire history of WoW but from WotLK up till now druids have been in the top five most played classes, if not the top three. I don't think you know what you are talking about.

Actually I'd quite agree, once easy leveling hit with WotLK druids climbed from their previous mediocre numbers to their current popularity. But it wasn't always that way.

Druids became popular with Wrath because they could finally be useful.

What you said is correct, but druids remain a poor example of it.

Druids are a great example of it. They can do everything in the game and are a popular class, one of the most popular in fact. Are you stupid or just being stubborn?

Nope. Still wrong. Druids only became popular after leveling became easy.

You have said nothing to disprove that druids are a perfect example of people wanting to play a class that can do everything.
